I’ve had an infuriating sequence of events where A/V equipment was missing from an area, I found the missing equipment in a closet (not where it was supposed to be), setup it up while there was a presenter waiting, and found that it was broken by a previous user and they never reported it… Why???

Anthrocon has been closely monitoring the extreme heat and severe weather situation in Pittsburgh forecast for this weekend. Convention leadership has been in contact with emergency services personnel and other entities regarding this situation.  After careful consideration for the health, safety, and wellbeing of our fursuiters, attendees, and residents of Pittsburgh, Anthrocon has decided to cancel the 2026 Fursuit Parade and Block Party scheduled for 2pm, July 4th.  We know both Anthrocon attendees and our friends in Pittsburgh look forward to this event every year; but the health and safety of all concerned is our paramount priority.  Anthrocon attendees should look for announcements of alternative indoor activities in place of the parade this year. Still feeling a bit burnt by my experience last year at FWA. I just hope their leadership team figured out line management this year, especially the dealers rooms and elevator queues. If not it’s probably time to consider implementing an attendance cap like Anthrocon.

Internet censorship is something I often find myself thinking about. One day the way we currently communicate online may disappear or become unsafe for our communities. We need to seek out encrypted, decentralized, and federated forms of internet communication such as the Matrix protocol.
