Tbh I thought Círdan’s hair and beard was a slam dunk here

Been thinking about my one of my favorite Tolkien quotes a lot in the last few days: “The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.”

This chapter feels like the vibe today, unfortunately. Aurë entuluva though, right?

Never worked with clay before but I took a class today and tried to make a hobbit door mug. Maybe I’ll be better at it next time lol (I still like it tho)

In season one she was more of a main character, but I think I’d argue that Sauron is going to be the main character of the entire series

I’m feeling really bummed out bc of the tiktok ban today. The community we built there helped me through some of my worst times and now it’s just gone. Bsky is all I’m using now, so I’m grateful for how supportive the trop/tolkien community is on here and I’m so happy to be a part of it ❤️

I’m american but I agree. It blows my mind that people who claim to be progressive don’t understand how fucked our system is or why everyone hates us (and they should tbh). Trying to convince other americans we aren’t this amazing country is so frustrating it makes me want to scream. It’s exhausting

When I first read the Silmarillion I couldn’t keep a lot of the house of Finwë names straight so I’d just refer to them as “fin…something” Fingon, Finrod, and Fingolfin ended up being my favs so I thought it was a fitting username 🤷🏻‍♀️

Top 10 Favorites: 1. Fingon! Fav character period 2. Boromir 3. Narvi 4. Bilbo 5. Nienna 6. Sauron 7. The Silmarillion 8. My mom rented FotR when I was 5. Been obsessed ever since 9. Tbh I don’t read a ton outside of Tolkien. Song of Achilles, maybe 10. The Mummy (1999). It’s a perfect rom com

Fin…something @finsomething.bsky.social · 09/01/2025

I was 5 when FotR came out, and I was just remembering that the first time I saw it, I got so overexcited reenacting a scene that I punched myself in the face and gave myself a bloody nose. Happy to say my enthusiasm for Tolkien hasn’t diminished even a little bit since then lol

#wotrspoilers one last thing: this was the most lore-accurate Tolkien adaptation and it’s not even close. I don’t want to hear anything from the “respect for tolkien” crowd on this one

000

Fin…something @finsomething.bsky.social · 13/12/2024

#wotrspoilers also Hèra is queer and you’ll never change my mind about that

120

Fin…something @finsomething.bsky.social · 13/12/2024

#wotrspoilers Overall I really enjoyed it. It definitely had some flaws, and the nods to the jackson trilogy were a little much for me, but I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I got so invested in all the characters, even ones who only had a few minutes of screen time

110

Fin…something @finsomething.bsky.social · 13/12/2024

#wotrspoilers people are bitching about making Hèra the main character, but I loved it. I think expanding her role was a wonderful way to pay homage to all the unnamed women left out of tolkien’s works. The film explicitly saying that women’s stories are left out of history felt very important to me

Fin…something @finsomething.bsky.social · 06/12/2024

Imo Beren and Lúthien is the most easily adaptable Tolkien story and they’d be crazy not to do it if they’re able to get the rights. It’s so solid on it’s own and doesn’t require as much context as stories like the fall of Gondolin or children of Húrin would (as much as I would love to see those)

Imagine being a Tolkien fan and not wanting to build upon a minor detail or changing a narration perspective. Some of them have never unhealthy fixated on random Silmarillion elf that is mentioned only once and it shows!

I’m right there with you. It sounds a little ridiculous but on bad days I’m like “you have to stay here bc you haven’t finished reading all of Tolkien’s works and you have to see how trop ends.” It’s just a little thing but it keeps me going so
