Have just finished Cold Comfort Farm with my book club. Very interested in hearing from people who enjoyed the book and its "humor."

Note to broadcast schedulers: If you're running a romcom marathon, do not put 2 movies w/same actor (M or F) back-to-back. It'll confuse viewers who doze off then wake in a new film world, unless it's explicitly a showcase for a particular actor, which is also weird. So don't do that either.

Met two lovely Yorkshire lasses while in Dublin this week. One of them works at Grassington House. Note: She does not know where the vet’s house is but that doesn’t stop people from asking. 😅 #ACGAS

Wonder how long until the first #Hallmark romcom about a data center promoter and a small town resistance leader. Or is it too far fetched for a data center guy to find love?

I'd remake #Sanditon using S1 plotlines and characters, going into back stories and unresolved side plots, and end S7 with a Charlotte-Sidney wedding. There'd be flashback episodes, maybe half a season in Sussex, definitely some West Indian and African locations, more London, more beach scenes.

Love on Iceland might be a cute romcom, but I’m distracted by the fact that they are supposed to be in Iceland in December and the sun is always out.

Possibly worst scripted #ChristmasMovie kiss. Harried dad hires organization expert because he keeps neglecting his kids. Blah, blah, blah. Org expert turns up for the daughter’s Christmas play and reconciliation. She and dad have their first kiss while the girl’s play is still happening. 🙄

Scene from Christmas in the Air with daughter on stage in her holiday play.

Scene from Christmas in the Air where leads are about to smooch ignoring the school play happening in front if them.

Had a call today from a friend who now lives nestled between the Dales and the Moors. So, I asked when is her novel coming out because obvs everyone who lives there must write.

Dawson’s Creek was a weekly appt for me. I appreciated James Van Der Beek’s keeping just the right touch of campy teen angst. I didn’t keep up w/his later career moves and wasn’t aware he was sick. So, it’s a shock to learn of his passing. Prayers for his family. 🙏🏾💔 deadline.com/2026/02/jame...

Wow! Didn't see February sneak up. This US #BlackHistoryMonth, I'll be celebrating Black characters in period drama. Will try to uplift those characters with ties to the Americas.

16 nominations for Sinners! So well deserved. Calling it a "vampire tale" ignores most of the beauty of this masterpiece of a movie. Yes, there are bloodsuckers, but my goodness there is so much more. #Oscars

@ladygeeksmedia.bsky.social will once again be publishing my weekly reviews of All Creatures Great and Small on Mondays US time. VERY curious to see fan reactions to Season 6. No spoilers in comments, please, for those watching weekly.

With such a strong cast, including some fun cameos, this one has potential, but sadly the dialogue falls flat. I laughed and rolled my eyes at the big declaration. Wanted to like it; didn't.⭐⭐.5 #ChristmasMovies

Four Christmases and A Wedding. ⭐⭐ Clever plot but poorly executed. He starts with bad moves; she shows a selfish streak. By the end I like the secondary couples more and don't care if they get together. Big continuity problem as cute niece does not age over the four year timeline. #ChristmasMovies

Epilogue to a sad story. Writer gets a thumbs down for tying up loose ends. I suppose,,though there's no explanation that would satisfy me. Senseless.

An old The Mentalist rerun sent me down a Polly Walker rabbit hole. Mrs. Featherington has lived a period drama life!

Polly Walker as Jane Fairfax in the Gwyneth Paltrow Emma. Jeremy Northam as Knightley (apologies, Mr. Knightley) is on the right of the photo. Sanditon fans might notice the pineapple centerpiece.

Polly Walker as Lucetta Templeman in The Mayor of Casterbride. Her red dress, red ribbon for her bonnet and mischievous look are danger signs.
