It's been some time friends, hope y'all have been well ♥ Life came and kicked my ass for a bit as it often does, bit of burnout, life debt, relationships, family conflict, and overall one too many mouths to feed with very few spoons to spare left me allocating my time and energy elsewhere for a bit. What was supposed to be a week break became two, then three, and now over month later I've finally picked the gposer arts back up to give my beloved Sangy one last season of pretty pics before evercold knocks plogons out for a bit. Deep Image of Peculiar Shell Elliptical Galaxy NGC 3923 in Hydra - From Rolf Wahl Olsen - flic.kr/p/293GTsm

Some 90 million light years away, towards the Southern constellation Hydra, lies the peculiar shell elliptical galaxy NGC 3923. As of 2018, there doesn't seem to exist any other amateur images of this beautiful galaxy.
Its unusual appearance originate from past mergers with other nearby galaxies which have generated the myriad of concentric shells visible near the centre. This phenomenon is in fact not uncommon and many other elliptical galaxies host large shell systems, including the famous Centaurus A (NGC 5128), but the remarkable symmetry and large number of subtle shells is unique to NGC 3923.

The formation of such shells are a common observation in computer simulations of merging galaxies.
The shells form when the cores of merging galaxies orbit around their common centre of mass in an ever tighter orbit while disrupting the halos of both galaxies and sending billions of stars into eccentric orbits. This process creates outward traveling density waves until the collision eventually settles as one single large galaxy.
Recent research based on deep images from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope have documented 42 concentric shells in NGC 3923, more than in any other known galaxy.

A prominent stream of stars is extending towards the lower right, terminating abruptly in a shell-like fragment (4 o'clock position). Visible within this stream is a small round galaxy, believed to be one of the merging progenitors of the shell system. The galaxy appears to be in the process...

Every once in a while, I'll try to make friends, but a huge red flag for me is when someone never bothers to ask me anything about myself. It's so common. I'll be polite, make conversation, try to get to know them, and after a few weeks realize they don't know a single thing about me. 🙄

It was his chance to show his half-brother he was not to be underestimated. He was here to stay, and he would be the very best knight of House Fortemps. He may not have the name, but he had the blood. He'd show them. For Artoirel, it was a chance to put that Greystone in his place. Mother was right to find his presence in their home abhorrent. It was humiliating and he had to wonder at his father's choice to have let his bastard be part of their family. What baffled him most was how much Father liked him. Sure, he had the decency not to show it in front of Mother, but Artoirel could see it when she wasn't home. He refused to feel pity for his half-brother out of loyalty to his own mother. And yet, he could not help but feel a reluctant admiration for his swordsmanship. Haurchefant had grit. He had courage. Artoirel wondered if things were different, would they have been friends… like real brothers. He scoffed inwardly. Probably not. Haurchefant did not belong. He never would. "Is that the best you've got, Greystone?" he taunted. Haurchefant's eyes narrowed a fraction, but to his credit, he did not raise to the bait. "You wish. This image shows the famous Pillars of Creation region of the bright Eagle Nebula (Messier 16) in Serpens.
Constructed from monochrome exposures in two very narrow wavelength bands of ionised Hydrogen and Oxygen, the data has been combined into a colour image to reveal this highly detailed and very dramatic scene. The bright colours are due to emission from the ionised gases, energised by light from nearby stars. The stars were removed during image processing to fully reveal the intricate structure of the nebula. Orange-red nebulosity corresponds to H-Alpha emission, and the blue areas are OIII.
The core area of the nebula was made famous in 1995 as the "Pillars of Creation" by images from the Hubble Space Telescope. The pillars are giant columns of gas and dust, approximately 9 light-years long, that are slowly being eroded away by intense radiation pressure from nearby young stars.
The nebula lies 6000 light-years distant in the Sagittarius arm of our Milky Way galaxy.

Palworld comletion! Could still work on the Hard tower battles and catch a few Pals, but I've at least beaten the main part of the game! Was very enjoyable, 10/10 recommendation.

My kids have been kicking butt in soccer. My son's team won both of their first two games in blowouts haha. It's harder to get them to stay in position than anything, but they're having fun and working together (most of the time) so that's the real win!
