Thank you!Unfortunately, the data do not contain the hours worked-days in active empl and part-time category is the best we can. We’ll compare mothers and fathers, yet the PL durations differ drastically-so we’re still grappling with this. From our IABreport iab.de/publikationen/publikation/?id=13157951

I had to look up how it compares to Germany (yellow) - and I wasn’t disappointed… or, well, very disappointed, but proven right. childpenaltyatlas.org/event-studie...

New #dataviz in @sociusjournal.bsky.social: how closely linked are motherhood penalties🤰💶📉 and gender inequalities 👨‍💼👩‍💼 in local labour markets in 🇫🇷 and 🇩🇪? Link btw♀️ ♂️earnings gap and 🤰 penalty holds across borders, but is even stronger within countries 🧵👇 w/ @sanderwagner.bsky.social,P Achard,I Amend

Absolutely! I like the conclusion by @mcollischon.bsky.social - while mini-jobs *theoretically* could be a stepping stone, empirical reality does not support this idea.

New working paper with P Achard, C Frodermann, D Müller & @sanderwagner.bsky.social:using harmonized admin data for #France & #Germany, we study the stratification of maternal employment in 🇫🇷 and 🇩🇪 based on higher pre-birth income, education, and firm-level median earnings. #sociology #demography

This semester, I’m back to teaching introductory applied #stats at FAU Nuremberg after a 2-year break post-PhD 🎓 Excited to support a new generation of sociologists learning statistics - and fix file paths, variable types, and similar challenges. Thy for having me on board, @andreassoc.bsky.social!

Exploring regional patterns of fathers claiming parental leave benefits in Germany. Fascinating map in the new report on regional differences by the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. (A bit) More details on p.55 www.bmwk.de/Redaktion/DE...

Off to Edinburgh for #EPC2024 - looking forward to seeing many familiar faces and hearing about their latest projects! I hope some will stick around to discuss Labour markets and couples on Saturday at 11:00 in Lecture Theatre B.

In a collaborative project, we’re harmonizing 🇫🇷 & 🇩🇪 social security data to research maternal employment. We find that motherhood employment penalities are larger in 🇩🇪, but more stratified in 🇫🇷 see our 1st working paper here: osf.io/preprints/so... with P Achard, C Frodermann, D Müller, S Wagner
