Finally, the eruption of Titan Ridge volcano in Bismarck Sea looks ending. It is emitting only a small amount of pumice. And luckily, the winds blow the pumice rafts away from the islands of Manus. The rafts are only seen in lagoons. browser.dataspace.copernicus.eu?zoom=13&lat=...

In the weekly GVP report from May 14th, the Rabaul Volcano Observatory and some addition sources indicate that the eruption started on May 8th. It seems that the eruption location match the 1972-eruption location. 🔗 volcano.si.edu/volcano.cfm?... #actu #eruption #science #volcano

What happens in my mind when I "read" the topographical contours. 1→2. Compute the Slope (Focus onto the dense-sparse of the contour lines). 2→3. Integrate the Structure (Track the ridges and valleys). 3→4. Synthesize the Terrain. (Overlaying data to build the 3D mental model.)
