Got dad to ER. Busted knee, needs surgery when swelling subsides. They found nothing wrong with mom, which … her needing to go incited the incident which injured dad, so I have feelings about that. Haven’t eaten anything in 10 hours. Mom is confused as to why I am grumpy. Ready for a new day.

My brother is going to attend to my dad. But now he can’t milk the cows (which has to be done twice a day) or do any farmwork, so … it’s not a great situation as I am working at the orchard right now, so I can’t be in two places at once. Luckily, I had the day off from there today.

So, today turned out badly. My dad tripped & shattered his knee while loading up my mom (who is in a wheelchair) to bring to the ER. So, now they BOTH require medical attention & I’m waiting for my mom in the ER. Can’t bring dad cause my back is bad & I can’t lift him into the vehicle. Guhhh.

Carly dropped a B-sides for 'Day and Night,' which brings the total of songs for this album up to 32! Of the B's, I think this is my fave. I would've tried to squeeze it onto the A release! (Also, I love the cover for this. So wholesome!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg6G...

My main mice are satisfied: Field - with Adelaide for 20 years (first story was 2006!), but their chemistry still colorfully sparks. Meadow - can’t (doesn’t want to) keep Fib’s paws off her. Emerson - once modest, now in regular 3somes & has several pups due to Charlie’s sunny, kinky persuasion.

You race varying 'ships' with different boosts, but you sorta have to figure out what works as you go, so it's a LOT of crashing/exploding/respawning. Often, other characters taunt you when you crash! Will take some practice to master. A great game, though.

I'm a Trekker, but I got the new 'Star Wars: Galactic Racer' game (as I am also a diehard race fan; already play F1 2026 and NASCAR 2026; waiting for the new IndyCar game to drop next spring!). It's very fun and chaotic (like a life-and-death Mario Kart). The sci-fi vistas are diverse & immersive.

We used to be a little bluer than now! We had Dem governors in the 90's & early 2000's, at least one Dem senator until 2016, and broke for Obama (by 1 point) in 2008. But the MAGA movement took real hold here & no Dem has won statewide in the decade since. Can't wait to usher in a new era!

I did my part! Was too antsy to wait! So, I drove my greymuzzle self 13 miles (at 8 AM) to the County Courthouse to vote on the first day of voting. Now have to wait a month to see if anything changes, but I’m choosing to be hopeful.

Field Mouse @fieldtmouse.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

There are literally 6 races on my ballot where the GOP is running unopposed, so ... yeah. That's where it's at here. The US House race has a 99 percent chance of staying red, so the one I'm hoping to impact is Secretary of State! I want to vote as soon as possible (impatient!), so we'll see when.

120

Field Mouse @fieldtmouse.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Looking at my Election ballot & it's a bummer (in more ways than one) I'm in such a ruby red state, cause none of these are going to flip despite the headwinds. Maybe one real unknown (Secretary of State)? I'll still vote obviously, but ... gonna have to gaze elsewhere for hope & satisfaction.

Nobody does warm/mellow slice-of-life songs like Josh Rouse (for 30 years, now!). Big autumn vibes, here. The instrumental interlude in the middle really sends me! So stoked for the new album later this month (pre-ordered the signed vinyl): www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cluq...

I knew this was Hellzapoppin' even with the sound off. Very wild and wacky film, though not technically a screwball.

Mr. Humphries is an icon. An openly queer character in the 1970’s (50 years ago!). Who was also the most popular person on their show? (By the end, he would get ovations when he made entrances.) Quite a feat!

Looking into where to vote next month & my options are the county courthouse (my normal spot, but I can never find parking & am worried about getting towed!) & various small libraries and churches. One of the rural churches is the closest option, so I think I'll do that this time? We'll see!

The last music video for 'Day and Night,' 'Versailles' is the most old school/2010's Carly song. (Very Kiss-coded.) It's a cute, boppy earworm. Not many artists can pull off such severe tempo/tonal swerves between the verse & chorus, but I think she lands it! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Boul...

'I'll stay awake for your touch Meet me one more time on the lonely side of the bed.' This song is another swoon for me! Nobody does yearning like Carly. In lesser hands, it could come off as cliche, but her songs of desire are always so earnestly delicate. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycm6...

On repeated listens, this song (the 23rd on the album!) really catches me. A fun, sensual bop (apparently the first song Carly and her now-husband wrote together, which makes it sweeter!). The fact that she's still serving like this on Song 23 speaks to her status: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAz5...

A Star Trek: Federation set in the Fed Council dealing with passing legislation & managing varied interests between far-flung member worlds would be great. Very West Wing-ish. (Disco does have some of this in S4, with the Fed president being a main character. But it only scratched the surface!)

It's Carly Rae Jepsen release day! 'Day and Night.' 24 songs! Carly's lane has always been longing bops with catchy hooks. But, here, yearning has grown into a mature contentment & the bops have become free-wheeling, immaculate vibes. It's a true evolution of style & sound while keeping her spirit.

The audience always laughed at Mrs. Slocombe’s ‘pussy’ double entendres, but they really howled at this one! In the cutaway, you can see Trevor Bannister struggling not to laugh. That the show always kept moments like this in is part of the charm.

Starting my yearly September ‘Are You Being Served?’ rewatch! In some respects, it’s campy & dated, but the character/retail dynamics are so eternal it ultimately holds up. Still an all time fave! One of my favorite Season 1 jokes, here. Miss Brahms delivery makes the turnabout even better.

This has very strong vibes of a modern-day Dr. Strangelove (except with climate change instead of nuclear disaster). Will it connect with general audiences? Satire is lost on folks these days, so I'm doubtful. But it (and Cruise) are Oscar threats nonetheless. www.youtube.com/watch?v=job8...

It's about disgraced tech billionaire Elizabeth Holmes, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison for heading a fake/scam blood sampling company, Theranos. She invited a crew to film her last month before incarceration in 2023. The guy is Nathan Fielder, whose whole deal is his 'awkward persona.'
