Seth: Going out with Christine?

August: Yeah, we're doing karaoke.

Panel 2

Seth looks towards his video game but continues talking.

Seth: I thought you don't like karaoke.

August: We alternate between stuff I like and stuff she likes.

August talks about it further. He's used to telling Seth about the things he's thinking about.

August: It's still great. I enjoy being with her. And she seems to enjoy being with me. I hope that's enough. I hope I'm enough.

Christine has just woken up and is getting some coffee. Hayley, her room mate has noticed that Christine was out late again and investigates.

Hayley: You were out late.

Christine: I was out with August.

Christine is holding a mug that says "Dark Side of the Mug". Hayley's mug only says "Normal Mug".

We see Hayley's laptop which has a picture of a cat on it.

Hayley: That seems to be going well.

Christine: I guess.

Hayley: Something wrong?

Christine looks downs and lets some of thoughts spill out.

Christine: It is going well. I'm happy with how things are but I... I feel like it's all going to fall apart.

Hayley: Have you tried talking with him about it?

Mewbert stares at Gustopher with mild interest.

Gustopher sits on a large bean bag that has duct tape applied on two spots. Mewbert is stretched out on Gustopher's left side. Gustopher is staring blankly at the book.

Panel 3

Mewbert has now moved behind Gustopher's head. Gustopher has now taken his eyes away from the book and is staring at the ceiling.

Mewbert has moved over the Gustopher's left side and Gustopher calls out to his dad.

It's getting closer to the end of summer and Gustopher is doing his best to get in as much summer fun as he can.

Narration: Things to do before summer ends. Visit the beach.

Gustopher is running along the beach and waving his arms in the air. 7/10 beach activity.

Panel 2

Narration: Play video games with friends.

Now in Gustopher's entertainment room, Gustopher, Hannah, Olivia, and Liam are all playing video games. Hannah seems to have done something particularly shocking as Gustopher seems to be yelling. Hannah smiles mischievously. Liam is unbothered and focus on the game. Olivia appears to have no idea what's going on.

Narration: Don't think about school. Don't think about school. DON'T THINK ABOUT SCHOOL!

Gustopher is staring deep into the distance. He is failing to squash down his dread of school. Every summer seems to get shorter and shorter. Will there ever be enough time? IS THIS LIFE?

Gustopher has just run into a girl he's never met before. She's holding a ball trying to find something to keep herself occupied and decides to see if Gustopher wants to play.

Terra: Hey! I'm bored. Wanna play?

Gustopher: YEAH!

Panel 2

Terra and Gustopher begin tossing the ball back and forth while they talk.

Terra: I'm Terra. My family is visiting my Grandpa.

Gustopher: I'm Gustopher.

Panel 3

Some time has gone by the sky is starting to turn yellow. Terra and Gustopher have been having a great time.

Terra: My family leaves tomorrow. Want to play again next time? We come every summer.

Gustopher: Sure!

Panel 4

The sun is setting and it's starting to get dark. Terra is saying goodbye to Gustopher. Her ball is on the ground and will be forgotten.

Terra: Time to go.

Gustopher: Bye! See you next summer.

Narration: And they never met again.

This will be the only time Terra and Gustopher play together. While nothing particularly interesting happen, it's a memory that won't be forgotten.

Oh look! It's... Some random person who August works with. You know, good ol'... Susan? No, that can't be right. Anyway, she is excited to see August.

????: I haven't seen you since I was moved to the new office. Hope you and your kid are well.

Ash and Gwen are sitting on their roof at night and chatting. The moon is shining down. Ash has asked Gwen to start calling them Ash. Ash is still worried about what their parents might think about this.

Ash: Please don't tell Mom and Dad that I want to be called Ash.

Gwen: I won't.

Panel 2

Ash's primary concern is with their dad who Ash was named after.

Ash: Dad wouldn't understand.

Gwen: He'd probably get angry.

Panel 3

Ash leans back and puts their hands behind their head as they looks at the night sky. Gwen's statement was blunt but true.

Ash: Right, I don't want to set him off.

Gwen: Our family can be rough.

Panel 4

The siblings keep looking up to the night sky. The moon is full and gives the world a pleasant glow. There's a lot of frustrating aspects to their lives but they're also grateful to have one another.

Ash: Yeah, but I'm glad you're my sister.

Gwen: I'm glad you're by brother.

When Gwen refers to Ash as her brother, Ash feels slightly unsure about it. It's something they'll be thinking about.

Ash has just said to Gwen that they want to be called by a new name. It just came out suddenly and now they're struggling to explain.

Ash: Sorry, I just started wishing my name was different and- Maybe that's selfish, sorry. I like the thought of being called Ash and- I'm stupid. I'm sorry.

Panel 2

Nothing about this seems odd to Gwen. She's happy to call anyone by the name they prefer.

Gwen: I can call you Ash. It's no big deal.

Panel 3

Ash turns to look at their sister. In all their worrying about this moment it never seemed like it would go this smoothly. It's as if massive amount of intense pressure was just released.

Panel 4

Ash rushes toward their sister and hugs her. Gwen puts her arms around her them.

Ash: THANK YOU!

Gwen hadn't even realized how important this was to Ash.

Gwen (thinking): Maybe it is a big deal.

Gwen and Junior are making dinner together. Junior has been very quiet and Gwen is starting to get the impression that something is wrong. She wants to make sure that everything is fine.

Gwen: Junior, are you sure you're okay?

When Junior hears their name it feels like a poke in the side.

Panel 2

Gwen decides not to push the matter too much. She starts to get back to making dinner but she wants Junior to know that she's there for him.

Gwen: If you say so. I'm here if you need me.

Junior tries to look away and just ignore how they're feeling. They've been ignoring a lot of feelings and it's getting exhausting.

Panel 3

Gwen says one final thing as she steps away from Junior.

Gwen: Okay, Junior?

It hits Junior even harder than it did before.

Panel 4

Junior turns to their sister and yells what has been on their mind as a knee jerk reaction.

Junior: I DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED JUNIOR!

Gwen is once again making dinner and asks Junior for some help. He's reading a book called "Fancy Hugh and the Secret of the Salt Box". Fancy Hugh is a series of mystery novels about a fancy teenager named Hugh who wears plaid skirts and solves mysteries because teenagers solving mysteries is the only way anything gets done around here.

Gwen: Junior, could you peel some potatoes?

Junior: Sure.

Panel 2

Gwen is getting a pot ready while Junior starts working on the potatoes. It's a task that gives them a lot of room to think and there's something particular that's been on their mind lately. There is a small pile of potatoes waiting to be peeled.

Junior (Thinking): Maybe I should just ask. She would understand.

Panel 3

Junior starts to stare off into space as they begin to contemplate a theoretical discussion with their sister. Peeling potatoes is the perfect activity for thinking way too much about things. The potatoes are probably thinking about the possibility of there being a potato heaven.

Junior (thinking) What if she doesn't? What if she tells Mom and Dad? I shouldn't say anything. Or maybe...

Panel 4

Gwen has noticed that Junior is being quiet and decides to investigate.

Gwen: Junior, are you alright?

Junior (startled): I'M OKAY!

The potatoes are also being quiet but no one ever asks them if they're fine.

August suddenly stares off into the distance. This could be for a number of reasons. Perhaps he has realized that he's the one who is supposed to show Gustopher how to do these sorts of things. Maybe it's because the prevalence of rechargeable electronics is making the changing of batteries a practice that's slowly going away and August is feeling the pressure of the inevitable passage of time. It could be that he has indigestion. I don't know, I'm not a mind reader. Did you come to the transcript looking for answers? I wish I could give them to you. I personally feel that I'm losing all control of my life and I could use some answers too. I'm sorry, all this rambling feels passive aggressive on my end. We all have problems and worries. Anyway, I've completely lost track of what's going on in this comic.

Gustopher gets really serious. You can tell he's serious right now because he has anime eyes. That's when you know things are really serious.

Gustopher: The only thing keeping me going is the presence of my best friend. I'll be fine as long as he's here.

Suddenly, a massive figure rises from the depths of the ocean. They wear a fancy crown and sparkling glasses.

Liam: Captain, Poseidon rises from the depths. Are we saved?

Gustopher: Or doomed?

Turns out that Gustopher and Liam are having a journey of IMAGINATION at Gustopher's home and it's time for Liam to leave.
