An even more vile example this week of a right wing woman profiting off misogny, however, was former Fox News host Megyn Kelly. Kelly has already made excuses for Jeffery Epstein (link), so of course she's going full rape apologist on the Cornell asault case that has made headlines the last week or so. Kelly went especially low with the "ugly girls can't be raped" gambit.

"She's not the most attractive gal", snarled Kelly (link), who's visage always reminds me of Skeletor (link) these days. After accusing the alleged victim of having fat arms, "beef" thighs and "cankles," she argued that meant the woman must have consented because she's clearly desperate for male attention. "That's why she kept saying yes," Kelly insisted.

This is a flat-out lie, of course. In her testimony, Jane Doe describes (link) repeatedly saying no, swatting the men away who were assaulting her, covering herself up and even trying to hide. But Kelly knows her audience won't read anything that would disturb their narrative that rape accusations are lies and you can never believe women.

I looked up pictures of the woman that online MAGA folks claim is Jane Doe. You won't be surprised to learn that Kelly was lying here, too. This girl, whether or not it's actually her, is extremely cute, to the point where it requires collective misogynistic self-delusion to claim otherwise.

That also reveals an even darker edge to what Kelly is doing. By making Jane Doe's looks a "debate", she's encouraging people to look this woman up and share her photos, even beyond what malicious actors have done already. The message to future rape victims is clear: if you seek justic, you will be re-victimized thousands of times over, by even more men (and women!) objectifying you, threatening you and trying to humiliate you by claiming you weren't hot enough to rape.

One of the biggest myths is that men rape by mistake. Like, "Oh, they need consent training." But research is very clear: Sexual violence is not a mistake. One of the reasons I call them perpetrators in my work is because every single person I interviewed confessed in that context. The first question I would ask them was, "When you received that email from Title IX that you were under investigation, did you know what it was about?" Every perpetrator I interviewed said "yes." If sexual assault were a miscommunication, you would be wondering, What have I possibly done wrong? That is not the way that any of them reacted because they knew.
