I worry about the impact this has on students but also on researchers. So many of my best academic discussions have been in the classroom; so many of my ideas have been influenced by conversations I’ve had with students. LLMs flatten these discussions, even where they’re used “ethically”. (3/3)

One of the things that worries/saddens me the most about the use of LLMs in universities is the impact it has on student/instructor dynamics. Students turn up having read the work, just like they used to, but they’ve now also run their questions/analysis through an LLM. (1/3)
