@lucympowell.bsky.social Thank you for taking the trouble to write and ask what has made me feel hopeful. One question: which of the supposedly new choices were not already under way before our previous leader left? I should hate to celebrate a plan because it has been given a fresh coat of paint.
Which part of this moment has given you the most hope? *

From this week’s Shooting Times: Spare a thought for the neglected foxhounds, cruelly deprived of their “natural behaviour,” meticulously bred over centuries to serve a contrived tradition. What a tragic loss for the rural idyll.
The image shows a newspaper article with the headline "Anti-hunting group calls for end to foxhound breeding." The article discusses a campaign by the group Protect the Wild to end foxhound breeding and ban hunting. The article includes quotes from Ed Swales, chairman of Hunting Kind, who defends the practice of hunting and the breeding of foxhounds. The image also includes a photo of three foxhounds.

Back to Roseberry Topping and a nostalgic reminder of how a 1960s carpet cleaner jingle, long forgotten by many, resurfaced as an earworm, revealing the enduring power of advertising to linger in our minds despite its irrelevance. www.fhithich.uk?p=36560

I hope this doesn't mean a way back for Johnson. We don't want him in North Yorkshire. Nor Clarkie or Houchen for that matter.

Early morning at Amble marina, chasing the sunrise, missing the fabled ‘blue hour’ only to find the sky determined to be orange. Reflections on a past kayak grand outing, elusive puffins, and the simple pleasure of scallops for breakfast. www.fhithich.uk?p=36553

Alright, it's not breaking news, but the emotions are still running high!

I'm a bit confused about why this is showing up in the #History feed. I was under the impression that the feed only displayed posts with the #History hashtag. Can someone clarify this for me?

Kirtomy Bay in Scotland, a small, serene cove surrounded by rocky cliffs with grassy tops. The water within the cove is clear and calm, varying in shades of blue and green. A narrow, concrete jetty extends from the pebble beach into the water. A small boat, marked "LK 42," rests on the beach near the jetty. In the water, a lone swimmer is visible near the edge of the cove. The sky above is mostly clear, with a few wisps of clouds. The scene is tranquil and secluded.

@jilly.ca Hey there, are you the "feed owner" for #History? I'm not quite sure what it means, but I received the following message when viewing the feed.

Oh, I do hope he is going to replace it with a lovely portrait of a lettuce. That would be so unexpected and delightful.

This has just popped up on my FB feed. Is it legit? “In 1991 the British Museum opened its new Sainsbury Wing. Little did they know that the new columns hid a secret, which has only now been revealed.” #History m.facebook.com/story.php?st...
