Salomé, my historical fiction novel, is a love letter to my ancestors. Writing a manuscript that is culturally specific is a huge risk when western culture isn’t at the forefront. Salomé was inspired by Taíno folktale. Their stories deserve to be kept alive. I’m honored to have been a vessel. 🇵🇷

Another rejection. It doesn’t get easier. I yearn to grow as a writer. The biggest thing I struggle with is getting feedback and understanding exactly how someone wants me to implement changes. There is no exact map. 🗺️ Time to fill my knapsack and begin the journey… again.

And I understand that, but I’m not ready for that. And no matter how many questions you ask it’s not gonna change that fact. And it proves my point that your type of communication feels transactional. I don’t even know if you’re a human or if this is an AI bot. Those are the times we are living in.

I understand! And I’m just giving you feedback - when you ask questions that way it makes me as the receiver feel like you’re eventually just trying to sell me a service. Conversations don’t feel like back-to-back questions without an exchange. What was your motive to reach out to me?

Sometimes I’m in the middle of doing something mundane or ordinary and all of a sudden an entire conversation between two of my characters in the chapter I’m working on will start unfurling in my mind. Sometimes they’ll start arguing and I have to stop what I’m doing and try to trap it somehow 😅

I am a whimsy, romantasy gal… both in what I read and write. So when characters from a #socialhorror novel whispered in my ear and a plot quickly revealed itself, I was taken aback. Just finished chapter 1 of my WIP and there’s a knot in my stomach😩 It’s gonna be a long, rough few months ahead lol 🖤
