NEW: Key Stage 2 attainment, lifetime absence and context We look at the relationship between KS2 attainment and absence over (almost) the whole of primary school but also show the importance of considering context when interpreting attainment data alongside absence data. 🔗 vist.ly/57wa5

Early days for the new framework, but based on the outcomes for the first 50 or so secondary schools to be inspected, those with lower-attaining intakes are disproportionately more likely to be deemed as needing attention for achievement
12 of 53 secondary schools were judged needs attention for achievement when inspected under the new Ofsted framework. All but one had a Year 11 cohort with below average prior attainment in 2023/24

📉 Top GCSEs grade are up slightly this year overall, but some subjects saw higher increases than others. The % achieving 9-7 increased by 2 percentage points in biology and chemistry and 1 in physics. French and German were also up by 2 pp. 🔗 vist.ly/445bs

Results day is on Thursday. And we'll be interested to see entry numbers and retention rates for T-Levels. Retention rates last year were poor: just two thirds of those due to complete T-Levels in 2023 finished the course. 🔗 ffteducationdatalab.org.uk/2024/08/five...
