It’s like Kegels - you can do it while going about your daily business. To start you off, contemplate this Marilyn Frye quote: www.goodreads.com/quotes/11261...
To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e., women). All or almost all of that which pertains to love, most straight men reserve exclusively for other men. The people whom they admire, respect, adore, revere, honor, whom they imitate, idolize, and form profound attachments to, whom they are willing to teach and from whom they are willing to learn, and whose respect, admiration, recognition, honor, reverence and love they desire... those are, overwhelmingly, other men. In their relations with women, what passes for respect is kindness, generosity or paternalism; what passes for honor is removal to the pedestal. From women they want devotion, service and sex.

Not “any adult” though. Women who pay the bills don’t get to use that excuse, not even as sole income earner: 19thnews.org/2023/04/even...
The findings piece together data from the past five years on how people use their time, looking at different income structures of heterosexual married couples — couples in which the wife is the sole breadwinner, the wife earns more than the husband, both partners earn about the same, or in which the husband is the primary or sole breadwinner. In all five types except for one — in which the wife is the sole earner — wives are doing hours more caregiving work every week than their husbands. And in every scenario they do more or equal housework compared with their husbands.

Low birth rates is a manufactured crisis that was always about control of women’s bodies. Specifically, maintaining the level of unpaid labour which is at the heart of our economic system: www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/13-60...
The following paper provides estimates of the economic value of unpaid household work in Canada for 2015 to 2019. This study was completed by the National Economic Accounts Division at Statistics Canada, and was funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE).

According to this study, the economic value of unpaid household work in Canada was between $516.9 billion and $860.2 billion in 2019 depending on the valuation method used. These values amounted to between 25.2% and 37.2% of Canada’s nominal gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019, which is more than the contribution of all the manufacturing, wholesale and retail industries combined.

So much maternal regret seems rooted in the male partner’s inability to fully contribute. Every woman I’ve met who regrets having kids always talks about how much their husband sucks as a father and a partner.

I’d say the “why” has more to do with allowing businesses to effectively restrict the wheeling and dealing and networking opportunities to white men. www.askamanager.org/2019/05/our-...
Quote from link:

… In fact, there’s a long, well established history of women being excluded professionally through socializing of exactly this kind of thing (golf is probably the most common example that comes up, in fact). At a minimum your company is going to appear remarkably oblivious to that deeply entrenched history - but it also risks actual legal problems sprouting from it.

The only marriage type where husbands devote more time to caregiving than their wives is one in which the wife is the sole breadwinner. In those marriages, wives and husbands spend roughly the same amount of time per week on household chores.

Maybe in the early car days, it wasn’t so male coded? I’d say it was deeply entrenched by 1962, when in All Fall Down, 2 hitchhiking men, inc. Warren Beatty, get picked up by 2 women in a convertible, and the next shot shows Beatty driving and the women in the back seat of their own car
Still from All FallDown, showing Beatty from the back, with 2 women in a convertible approaching

world’s #1 joan little stan wrote:

every day there are new horrors for gender-marginalized people and women— trump going after the equal credit opportunity act, loss of body autonomy, exterminationist anti-trans attacks ramping up — and every single day we have to talk about “male loneliness” and “it’s a brutal time to be a young man”

Moira Donegan quoted and responded:

One thing you notice about anti-feminism is that its public discourses are all about erecting a fantasy of men’s victimization that is clung to all the more desperately and insistently the more it contradicts the actual facts. So the more women are hurt, the more were told that men are suffering.

I found this book for boys at the thrift store. There are no girls or women in it. Not even as random people you see in public. Even the animals (wolf) are male. The girls’ equivalent not only has a good smattering of men in the illustrations, but they are also main characters in the story
The Champion Annual for Boys 1955.
Cover shows a teenage boy pole vaulting in the foreground, 4 boys in school uniforms (?) looking on and waving behind him, and a boy in a grad cap and gown beside them, writing something in a notebook. While also looking at the pole vaulter and smiling
