Or here's an idea. Let people play how they want. If you don't have fun playing against some people because they don't dedicate every waking moment to learning the meta and building the best hand then just don't play with those people.

Gah I hate this job sometimes. Manager had me training the new guy for past 2 hours. The same manager just came up to me and told me I need to speed up because my pickrate was way too slow the last 2 hours. Like no shit, I was training someone. Need to get the process down before working on speed

Of clowns arrises from that clash. The exaggerated makeup already pushes them towards the uncanny valley, the dissonance between an unhappy person trying to portray an overly happy clown pushes that over The edge. And the unease from that can easily become fear.

I can't remember where I saw it but I remember reading something that tried to explain it. It said something along the lines of "clowning is exaggerating the worst parts of yourself. The problem arises when people try to be happy clowns but they are not happy people" basically I think people's fear
