George has sourced some rocks and now I need a carver to turn that obsidian rock into a series of scrying mirrors
George the cat poses proudly among rocks displayed on the floor over a grey cardboard sheet. There is opal, a very large obsidian, smoky quartz, rainbow fluoride, shunginte, etc

Summer reading has no season
Two books on a table, one is by Nate Lippens, Ripcord and the other by Peter Brunette and David Wills, Screen/Play, with George the cat sleeping next to them in his cardboard box

Thinking of that rendering in the lineage of the Berlin Schloss, or how the aesthetic of hostile architecture stretches from mall-baroque McMansion to Blackstone data center slash Amazon warehouses slash ICE detention centers, all essentially the same motives

If in Berlin tonight: I wrote a new text for this group exhibition The tides of Lethe which runs for one night | 7-10pm | Torstraße 95, D–10119 Berlin | at the invitation of Anastasia Fugger, Giulia Ottavia Frattini, Tim Plamper, and Yorgos Stamkopoulos
A little stack of printed white A4 pages are nailed to a white wall and if you zoom in you may be able to catch a few of the words I wrote

I'll give a lecture tonight at Jagoda here in Zagreb about the image, the self, surveillance and intimacy, a work in progress with an origin story in Denmark where I stumbled upon a gossip mirror
The PDF of the lecture I will give tonight at Jagoda in Zagreb opened on my laptop's screen with various images, the larger top one is a still from the film The Face of Another (1966), the bottom ones show two phone screens with images of a glory hole, and a hand touching a page from the book hello, world? (2024). It reads: "The phone, It's curves, its thin body, its joyful metallic ping, its light and reassuring presence. Is the phone the stand-in for the body of the absent lover, or is the device itself the lover."A printed page from the lecture gently stroked by my cat George. The last sentence reads: "A faceless man feels free only when it's dark" which is from the film The Face of Another (1966)

90s nostalgia is a yellow page of paper works by 130 artists presented in a discontinued phone booth. Mine is at the letter S and can be seen until tomorrow in Berlin at the corner of Wildenbruch and Hetzer Str. raumwww.de/pages/die-ge...
A book is open to a collage made by me which reads in black letraset "NOTHING EVER HAPPENS IN GERMANY" roughly painted around in green. The text is a quote from the film The American Soldier by Rainer Werner Fassbinder (1966). A hand wearing a art-handling white glove touches the page beforeThe yellow page book made by the collective Raum www is seen on a custom-made yellow table inside a discontinued phone boothThat's me inside the discontinued phone booth holding the yellow book

Film still from Rainer Werner Fassbinder, The American Soldier, 1970. Karl Scheydt, wearing a suit and a hat is behind the wheel of a convertible. His face isn't recognizable through the windshield reflecting the sky. Below, the subtitles read: "Nothing even happens in Germany."

The impetus behind men's actions, an affective proximity
Two hands holding a phone opened to an article on Elon Musk: "I didn't buy Twitter for political or business reasons but I bought it for Amber Heard. I wanted to give it to her as a Valentine's Day gift but she broke up with me before Valentine's Day when she found a new boyfriend on Twitter. After she broke up with me, I banned her from Twitter and named it X."

How did John Duncan "sourced" a dead body, but not any kind of corpse, the corpse of–admittedly–a woman of color outside of the USA. The gender, social-economic-historical assessments behind his "choice" is never admitted in texts I've read

Read Mike Kelley's essay on The Uncanny from that eponymous 2004 exhibition and if anything, the 20 years since then gave me a lens impossible to not use when white male artists describe–interchangeably–muses, corpses, models, mannequins, and women
Printed essay by Mike Kelley, Playing with Dead Things - On The Uncanny, with underlined passages by Fette: We cannot help but see the mannequin as being castrated, a ludicrous idea to apply to something that never had genitals. And: by the artist John Duncan called Blond Date. The work consisted of Duncan having sex with a human corpse, and was presented in the form of an audiotape as a kind of concrete music. Duncan said of the experience "one of the things this piece showed me was that people don't accept death. Until the body is completely dust, people can't accept the fact that someone is dead. The me the corpse was like solid matter that had nothing to do with the person who was occupying it." Underneath is Fette's writing which reads "corpse image and "resulting work" is a sound piece. Female as corpse as doll as statue ..."

Residency day 34, stitching associations between images, the way Arthur Jafa spoke of affective proximity
An open folder with two A4 printed pages. On the left is a black and white photo-collage by and of Marcel Duchamp's installation "Étant donnés (Given: 1. The Waterfall, 2. The Illuminating Gas)" taken from his instructions manual on how to rebuild it. On the right is a color photograph showing two persons in full body protective suits and masks on each side of the mummy of an ancient Inca teenage girl sitting atop of a circle display. Her clothes cover her body and her head is tilted down

And so the woman who writes cuts herself out a paper penis, residency day 30
The face of Fette is turned three quarter to the right. Her eyes are closed and on top of her eyelids are taped cutouts of her eyes printed in color, they float, looking in different directions, and give off a silly, crazed look

The black void taking over my screen like a reddit lullaby
A laptop is open to a screen capture of the 1987 film White of the Eye. There is the head of a blonde white woman shoved by a gloved hand into a TV monitor, breaking its glass. On the keyboard of the laptop there is an A4 page with in its center, a print of a 1915 photograph of the Japanese magician Shokyokusai Tenkatsu dressed as Salomé with the head of John the Baptist facing her

Residency, day 20
Against a window, my hand is holding a color photograph taken from a balcony full of red geraniums. Behind the flowers are large concrete silos and a pipe. The photograph is rephotographed at the same location and now the silos are gone but the pipe remains. Blurry in the distance, there is the sea.

Officially left the cult for another(s). Forever online never felt so delusional or you only forever-live-love-laugh once-ish. Unsurprisingly meta makes it difficult to delete posts in bulk and seems to embed errors for the fun of it, but here I am 🤡 and hi

I'm in Denmark for the next 11 weeks and was gifted with the meeting of one of these objects: a "gossip mirror" from the 1800s. Now I see they were in Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, (...?) and one is still hung in Philadelphia. I want to hear stories
A "gossip mirror" hung on a window is photographed from the inside of a house, then printed in black and white on paper and taped to a concrete wall
