I'm aware the feed's been super flaky and I'm sorry for that but I've not had the resources to be able to maintain it the last few weeks with the latest surge. If there's a union of sex workers willing to take over the maintenance and costs of the feed, I'd be willing to transfer it to them -- dm me

Whoa what the fuck when did the feed start getting video content??? 👀👀

FETISH⨁CHURCH @fetish.church · 31/08/2024

So, the good news is we've isolated the root cause of the outage, The bad news is it's due to a rate limit we keep hitting as part of our architecture. We probably need to reconsider our approach, it may take a day or so. We appreciate your patience! 🙏🏼

Reposting for new users because we're not visible in the feed directory anymore! ✨

The directory isn't sorted by Likes anymore, we're now hidden until you search for Adult Content. Thank you to everyone who's given it a like! 🍑

OH DANG WE BROKE 4K Thank you to everyone who has given it a like! We are the 7th most-liked feed on Bluesky (even if for some weird reason the feed directory lists us as 10th)!

Screenshot of AC feed in the feed directory, 4018 likes is circled. Meanwhile Home+ has 3064 and Furrylist Art has only 2901, but we're not mad! It's pretty funny how broken it looks tbh!

1/4 📸 We want to share an important update about image labeling on Bluesky. Every image posted is initially reviewed by an automated system that checks for adult content, graphic imagery, and more. The system then applies labels to flag sensitive content, which human moderators can review.

If you like the Adult Content feed, you're really missing out by not subscribing to the @ozone.thebull.app labeller. It's a really fantastic tool for filtering what you see from the firehose, go try it! We plan to incorporate it into the feed so a few categories of posts are removed automatically.

Want to instantly remove all illustrated porn from the 🔞 Adult Content feed? Go to the new @moderation.bsky.app labeler and toggle "Sexually Suggestive (Cartoon)" to "Hide"!

This will be a game-changer in terms of how the 🔞Adult Content feed works — imagine being able to hide illustrated content, for instance. If you want to contribute to a forthcoming FETISH⨁CHURCH labeler project (especially if you have spare compute resources), please email: reverend@fetish.church

This is absolutely wild though: earlier today, the feed was doing 12 requests per SECOND. That's 720 of y'all looking for sexy pictures EVERY MINUTE!

Chart showing a peak of 12 rps, or 7.5k requests in a 10 minutes

FETISH⨁CHURCH @fetish.church · 08/02/2024

Service Update: Fixed it! This should also solve the brief downtime every ~4h. We now query posts for labels after 10s, down from 20s! We have no idea what latency Bluesky's autolabeller service operates with so in order ensure your content is in the feed, please manually add content warnings! 🛡️

Charts of memory use. After tuning the server, we're using 35% memory down from 201%.

To ensure your images get into the feed, manually add a content warning! This means our server doesn't have to wait for Bluesky's autolabeller service to add its own content label.

FETISH⨁CHURCH @fetish.church · 08/02/2024

Eep! 😱 Feed's busy, y'all!!!

Heroku graphs showing a huge amount of out-of-memory occurring. Usually this is due to the queue becoming too large, we wait 20s after every firehose post to check it for labels; we've since dropped this to 10 seconds.

Once 3rd party labellers are possible I'm going to build one that allows users to refine what they see in "🔞 Adult Content". I'm annoyed I have to do this because at one point I asked for the current labeller to provide a tenth of the labelling data coming from The Hive and was told no.
