Sarcasm, about the number of drivers of stationary vehicles in car parks that keep the engine running for some time.

In the UK, it's compulsory if you have driven your partner to the supermarket in your SUV. While waiting you have to keep the engine running to keep you cool or warm or just have the radio on. Not sure what the legal consequences are, but most SUV drivers won't take the risk of switching off.

In the UK, the right to drive outweighs the right to life. So a lifetime driving ban is seen as an unreasonable punishment for causing multiple deaths, even when drunk, high, or just plain stupid.

So Mr or Ms Tory MP, when doing your value analysis, how many children's lives are worth seconds of a driver's time? I suspect that the answer may be infinite as long as you get elected!

If you have solar panels, the cost is less than 3p per mile. For those quoting the cost of commercial chargers, yes they are very high. But I suspect that for a lot of drivers, there will not be many long journeys per year, so not a big impact overall. For others, no own charger near diesel prices

That's the whole point. While they keep talking about 'illegal immigrants', they don't have to talk about policies, or how they are going to make the country thrive. If they had to talk about anything else, we would see how useless and clueless they were.

But the driver was remorseful, so that's all right then. The driver gets a short ban, and his life will carry on with few consequences. The victim will no doubt have a life of pain from broken bones. Who gets the sentence/punishment?

Discrimination against the poor, immigrants, the working class There never was a golden age for everyone Time to look forward to what the UK could be, to address underlying issues, lack of investment, and regional disparity. It's all possible but we require better politicians and government.

It's time that the UK stopped looking backwards. Cries of two world wars and one world cup, fetishizing the 50s,60s, 70s 80s as some golden era. We can't go back to a land that never existed outside of some politician's imagination. Every era had issues, poverty, unemployment, discrimination. 1/2

It's time to get rid of the terms ' war on cars', 'war on motorists'. There never seems to be a money issue when it comes to new roads, reductions in fuel tax Making things safer for children, pedestrians etc is not a war on cars. Higher speed limits and pavement parking etc are a War on People.

Nice idea, but our politicians are too scared of upsetting the 'silent majority's to take the tough action required. The silent majority are just a noisy minority who get more coverage in the media than they deserve, but if you are a politician without a backbone, you dare not challenge with facts.

Bologna was a different story, cars always had priority, meaning pedestrians had to wait for traffic lights to let them cross. Cars accelerated away from lights. Bad parking and double parking created problems for buses. There were few pedestrianised areas. Lovely city, great food, but...

I am in Paris at the moment, I have been impressed by the small number of cars in some areas, and the number of e-cargo bikes about. Similarly in Zurich and Chambery. In Turin and Bologna, cars still ruled, although in Turin weight of numbers in some areas forced cars to stop for pedestrians. 1/2

Why does this deserve an article in a newspaper? It falls under the category of 'local people moaning because they have been caught doing something that they shouldn't or thought that signs and restrictions don't apply to them' Media attention will make them think that they are in the right.

The sentence is unbelievable. The value of human life v the right to drive. Human life zero if a driver involved. Right to drive infinite, even if driver is dangerous, deranged, incompetent or even blind. What would make Mail, Times,BBC etc speak out about this! Oh sorry, ebikes are the issue.

The actual state is that if a driver once saw a cyclist break the law, then they feel justified in killing or injuring a random cyclist at some point in the future. It also applies if they have read or been told about a cyclist breaking the law. I don't think that it has been tested in court yet

There seems to be a hope amongst car companies, petrol heads, people who over order, and politicians bought by the oil and car industry that somehow everything will either be OK or an amazing new technology will suck all the CO2 out of the atmosphere. Or perhaps they just don't care or think.
