AVG PPT for the area is 14 inches annually, making it semi-arid short grass prairie, not desert. Regardless, its home to pronghorn, coyote swift fox, hare, prairie dog, reptiles, rodents, etc. None of whom need shade from solar panels, all of whom benefit from open territory. Environments recover.
