Rest in peace and power, #BettyReidSoskin! Ms. Soskin was the oldest park ranger in the #NationalParkService; she died yesterday at the age of 104. She was a fixture at Rosie the Riveter National Historical Park in the Bay Area, testifying to the history she lived and witnessed. (2019 photo)

Teaching my calculus and pre-cal students about the context of math, including the cultural context, is part of my job. Today, on Day 2 of the 5 days of #Diwali, I introduced the famous art of #rangoli, giving them a chance to choose a pattern to color. #MathEd #ITeachMath #MultiverseOfMathness

Why are we still kicking PATs? The #XFL's idea of no-kick, must-choose-1-or-2-or-3-point-conversions is brilliant. They introduced it back in 2020. It'll make the game soooooo much more interesting; PATs won't be just a sign to run to the bathroom before everyone else #NFL #HoustonTexans

I don't remember much from my 4 semesters of Hebrew in grad school, back in the late 1990s, when I was prepping for church work. But I do recall #RoshHashanah means, lit., "head of the year." L'Shanah Tovah to all my friends who celebrate the Jewish New Year! May it be blessed with much sweetness!

My fam and I are incredibly saddened by the news that the historic #GrandCanyon Lodge and nearby cabins at the North Rim have been lost to wildfire. We have great memories of visiting and especially of staying in one of the little cabins back in 2016. I snapped this picture during that trip.

A DEVASTATING LOSS. What I've most enjoyed about #TheWheelOfTime is how often the power of women, in particular women of color, has been central to the action. No on-screen fantasy series comes close to #WoT in normalizing women as the greatest badasses. #WoTskies #WheelOfTime (Google Search image)

Exciting day here at the Catholic high school where I teach, even for me, a non-Catholic! My daughters and students deserve to be seen, heard, and freed from both individual and systemic prejudices. Men, we can help to make that happen. We'll all benefit as our communities grow stronger from full participation. On #IWD2025, I reaffirm my commitment to make these dreams come true.

Mathematics, as my generation and previous generations learned it, was simply functional. Studying math was only about the numbers. But I believe that if I'm going to serve my students best, I also need to introduce them to math's cultural and historical context. #MultiverseOfMathness #ITeachMath

A Photoshopped picture of me, dressed as Doctor Strange of the Marvel superhero movies, saying "In the grand calculus of the multiverse" - which is something Doctor Strange says in the films - "it's my job to teach not only math, but also its cultural and historical context. Math becomes more than just useful; it becomes personal and even powerful."
