Fantastic sky last night. High cirrus associated with an approaching cold front, and a low sun resulted in the appearance of twin "sun dogs".

Video in the comments based on yesterday's Map Reading Task. I went to find the pond, deliberately choosing a route that I wasn't familiar with. The video shows my plan, the terrain that I encountered and the features that helped with navigation. The photo shows the ford at the starting point.

The Hiiker app has an interesting feature that allows you to compare and overlay 2 different maps. The video in the comments demonstrates how to compare O.S. Harvey and Historical maps. This would help answer a recent map reading task that I posted!

On a recent night navigation session we attempted to locate the boulder field. We were confident that we had navigated to the correct place but there weren't any boulders! The video in the comments explains what was wrong.

Navigation skills video in the comments. Does your navigation strategy involve running around like a headless chicken trying to find the feature? There is a better way! The video explains how to search efficiently and gives a real life example from a recent night navigation course.

We were having a great day practising navigation skills on Kinder. We successfully located the large boulders only to find that someone had thought it ok to leave all their rubbish behind. At least they were considerate enough to put it all in a carrier bag for someone else to deal with 🤬
