Since my last day at Snowflake, I've been on a civic duty speed-run. I became a U.S. citizen, went canvassing door-to-door in Phoenix and Reno, voted for the first time, and just this week: jury duty. (continued linkedin.com/feed…)

Today was my last post on Twitter. I'll be using this account going forward while I contemplate the value of social media in my daily life.

This week I'm at #SnowflakeSummit in Vegas. It's going to be a challenge to stay in control - especially when surrounded by so many exciting announcements, talks, parties, dinners... I'm ready to do it! And happy to share my ongoing collection of insights. What are yours?

I almost gave up on Stack Overflow this week. But then - luckily for all of us - it's still my platform of choice to build a knowledge base together and help others. Longer story here: www.linkedin.com/posts/hoffa_i-stil…

Btw, I did tweet in June. The whole thing is just imploding. The faulty stats are a reflection of the underlying problems: - No engineers to keep the systems working. - Management not paying their GCP bills. - ...

Twitter, Reddit, Stack Overflow next? It's sad to say goodbye to all the platforms that made my professional rep go up. Excited to learn about what's next. Everything is going to change.

Just noticed the Succession memes subreddit I created years ago (and forgot about) is now having a 25000% spike in traffic b/c people are trying to find the actual Succession subreddit — which shut down to protest Reddit’s policy changes. So I am using my mod powers to helpfully inform 🫡

Screencap of subreddit traffic bar chart showing 2000+ pageviews the past 2 days (June 12 and 13). Traffic for earlier days are a blip in comparison

Screencap of r/successionmemes stickied mod post. The headline is:

Note: r/SuccessionTV has shut down in protest of Reddit's restrictive API policies. During these tumultuous times, here's a comforting message from Reddit's CEO

There is a Screengrab of succession s2e2 where Kendall Roy is speaking in front of a room of disgruntled Vaulter employees. He is saying “it would be a mistake for you to unionize”
