Three yellow flowers.A clump of white 5 petal flowers.A flower that looks like a passion fruit flower. It's like a layered cake. Starts white large white petals, then blue/purple rods, then green stems, then 3-symmetric purple stems.

Made a fish & yad thing to very painlessly post photos to the blog. And since I just got a camera to compensate for my lack of smart phone, you might be getting a treat of photos. felipetavares.com/post/a-day-of-pho…

One more
GUI and SVG sketch. Window says "Test Time Estimator"

Several fields vertically distributed: iterations, protocols, test time, distance. Each has an entry field and a label.

At the bottom there are some labels each showing hypothetical times:
- overhead: 3min.
- headroom: 30min.
- total: 1h50m

More GUI sketches
Another example GUI.

This says "Remote Manager".

It lists SSH hosts for two domains, has a "panic!" button up top (presumably to disconnect everything), and host/password entry fields with a "new connection" button, which is highlighted as the main action.

It's very fun to create UIs with this thing, when it works.
Simple "To-Do" GUI program.

It has Work/Personal/Misc. tabs.

There are a couple tasks.

We can also see the open program menu with options Tasks/Cloud/Help.

In the background we see the Inkscape sketch that generated the UI.

Looks much better with proper spacing
Screenshot of a GUI sketch in Inkscape and the actual GUI built from it overlaid.

It has a sidebar with a few options, a search bar and button, and some other assorted buttons and entry fields.

Boxpiler, hotreloaded GTK edition! Crooked boxes, coming soon to take your native apps. The idea is to have something for very fast prototyping, my goal is to eventually take as much time to generate an actual GUI (minus logic) as it would to sketch it out in a piece of paper.

And this is what the GUI looks like for 1.5! I even put an icon there!
A screenshot of a browser running the local GUI for Viq.

A plot showing the delay time for each frame in the simulated video can be seen.

Also, the number of frames (100), the average frame delay (144us), and the average throughput (3.47Mbps).

Web page with title "viq receiver", showing a plot of video frame delay times, all within the range of ~1ms.

Decker is cool! beyondloom.com/decker/decker.html
A Decker pamphlet describing some ideas around symbolic computation.

Symbolic Computation

Graphs are probably how we want to deal
with advanced symbolic mathematics.

Nodes

Each "node" here is a graph too, specifically a tree, representing the expression at that point.

Search

With every node scored, we can then use ideas similar to gradient descent and graph search methods to find a global or local minimum.

This is the "answer" to the expression.

Scoring

We should have a function S() capable of
scoring how desirable a node in the graph
is.

tinycalc calculator.

Small calculator with a grid of buttons and a display.
In the display we can see Lisp expressions.

Some of the expressions have the form "(= dur (/ 5200mah 5ma))" and "(/ dur day)day".

At the bottom we can see the calculator has evaluated these expressions as having values: "1040h" and "43.33day".

I am a genius and my code is amazing! I implemented some basic symbolic computation and display sugar to collapse "(* n sym)" into "nsym", and magically editing also automatically expands collapsed expressions when you press "enter" on them, which is exactly what I wanted but it just works.

This basically saves me from having screws at the bottom end, which would mess a bit with the functionality of the design by not having the keyboard go all the way down to the bottom.

Diffuse surfaces! And I think with this one we have achieved the full "raytraced" look I was shooting for (minus whatever weird thing is going on with the back wall).
Room with a ball in the center, and two light sources, yellow and blue, one on each side. There are no reflective surfaces, instead, the image has a granular look characteristic of raytracers.
