People make a big deal of Batman recruiting so many people on his mission to save Gotham, but if you look at how each of them got in it’s always like this. Batman: Hey, that’s DANGEROUS! You can’t do that! Stop! Upstart Future Member of the Bat-Family: FUCKING MAKE ME, OLD MAN!

Panels 4-7 from page 6 of Batman #244, in which international Ski champion Molly Post gives Batman some skis to help him chase Ra’s al Ghul and Talia as they make their getaway.

“RA’S and TALIA are getting away CLEAN,” Batman remarks in the first panel, which depicts the Dark Knight’s cape blowing in the cold wind as Ra’s and Talia escape in a strangely-shaped craft, “And there’s no WAY we can nail them!” Batman concludes, only to turn to Molly as she interjects, “Maybe there IS!”

She holds up a pair of skis as she remarks, “I’ve won a few Olympic medals on SKIS–and guess what I’ve just FOUND?” Batman, knelt down and slowly putting on a set of the skis, thanks her, “Miss Post… you’re a TREASURE! With THESE, I have at least a chance--” only for Molly to reply, “Correction… WE have a chance! I’m TIRED of YOU doing all the work!”

Batman, alarmed, begins to say, “I can’t permit you to endanger…” but Molly’s already off on her skis, declaring, “To STOP me, you’ll have to CATCH me!” Bidding him farewell with a “BYE-BYE!”

It probably would’ve been deeper for some people if it stopped short of this, I’m sure. On some level this just isn’t supposed to happen - Wendy grew up, Peter Pan is for her children now. That distant, bittersweet reprise of “Second Star to the Right” was probably enough. Not for me, though 🥹

I saw some people immediately leaping at the news of a game leaving PlayStation as some childish disagreement where, in their fantasy, the developer wanted a physical release but evil horrible Sony insisted digital-only. Because everything has to be about what you’re mad about. Anyway, I read this.

Paragraph from an article about Kojima’s new game moving over to Xbox. “But the new project has also missed deadlines and was on track to be well over budget despite being years away from release, the people said. In addition, PlayStation was reluctant to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in another game that wouldn't remain permanently exclusive to the company's own hardware. There’s still nothing else quite like Walt Disney’s Fantasia (1940 film). The way it highlights and celebrates music, artistry, creation itself… it’s beautiful. ^-^ I don’t know if it’s still my all-time favorite movie, but it’s always gonna be up there somewhere. ❤️

Saw someone post about how odd it is that folks insist the Harris 2024 campaign "never told Walz to tone down using the word weird," rooted in this excerpt from a Politico article. Anyway, here's Walz continuing to use the word in November. Mere days before the election.

Bowser has the classic Saturday Morning Cartoon villain appearance - top-heavy, with muscular arms and stubby legs, and a crooked reptilian grin that bares his fangs as he looks down at Yoshi. His fiery-red hair is also a lot wilder than it’s usually styled! They both look at one another while framed in white with text above them both that reads, “Yoshi & Bowser.”
