Since being back in Texas saying my goodbyes to my grandfather (he’s currently dying of liver failure due to his cancer.) I am not even sad or upset about his inevitable demise. I’m full of joy and relief. A part of my trauma is dying.

The boy and the heron was good. While it’s not my favorite from Miyazaki, it’s still a pretty solid film about processing grief and accepting the things in life that can’t be changed or controlled. The animation was on point. 9.5/10 only because I found it a little tough to follow at times.

Life update. Grandfather’s cancer has gotten worse. He has 3 new tumors making the total count to 8. They have started him on morphine but i dont see him being here too much longer. To prepare for that i am leaving for texas friday and going to my mothers so ill he nearby when he does pass.
