Yes, pay directly to journalists too! Subscribe to their Patreons. "I would pay $20/mo" suggests that you aren't already b/c as Lionel suggests, it's a lot of work. It's also a lot of fees. $20 in one transaction is $0.88. 7 transactions of $2.86 each would be $2.68 in fees.

I'm working on a crowdfunding app for journalism where you put your $20/mo in and decide who all it should go to. We do all the math and send the recipient one big payment that includes money from everyone else. Does that sound interesting? Who would you give your $20 to?

For those who haven't heard yet, the Miami Herald's corporate owners at McClatchy today laid off the paper's superb veteran soccer reporter Michelle Kaufman. An utter disgrace, and an enormous disservice to fans of the local soccer team that draws a lot of media interest in town and worldwide.
