Inkarnate, one of the top mapping tools, got away with posting a map of the islands we in Argentina (and Latin America, and Spain) call the Malvinas using their British occupiers' names. The 250+ comments, almost 99% by people from Argentina and Latam calling them out, didn't matter.

@inkarnate.com really insensitive, to put it mildly. Why don't you upload a map of the Gulf of Mexico calling it the "Gulf of America" and see how it fares with LatAm and our Mexican brothers? How about calling Gibraltar British and insulting Spanish sovereignty? These are the Malvinas 🇦🇷

This is the front page of Argentina's most circulated center-left newspaper. This is going to be a big one.
The front page of Pagina 12, Argentina's most circulated center-left newspaper. The main story says "The Rainbow Wave: One day before the Federal March of Anti-Fascist Pride, important political figures voiced their repudiation of attacks by Milei on women and the LGBTQ community. The call has achieved the backing of human rights organizations, labor unions, and the entire opposition bloc. Mauricio Macri became the exception that proves the rule." The story is illustrated with a wave in the style of the "Wave of Kanagawa" by the japanese painter Katsushika Hokusai but it has been edited to include all of the colors of the rainbow.

This take is wrong: D&D (the game, the culture) belongs to the people. D&D (the brand) belongs to WotC. When I pirate a corporation, I'm enjoying the culture freely, not washing my "guilt". What guilt? Lol. People are allowed to like D&D, hate WotC and support indies. It's not a zero sum game.

TW: Gun violence. Argentina already thinly avoided a huge political crisis when a gunman obsessed with the alt-right talking points tried to shoot vicepresident and former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner on 2022. He didn't know how to use the gun properly and it didn't fire.

The reaction is divided between those who are worried and those who consider this ridiculous. While these actors are pathetic individually (Laje is a pseudointellectual who misread Gramsci, and Gordo Dan is an objectively stupid streamer), the discourse is dangerous.

Laje co-wrote an alt-right bestseller, The Black Book of the New Left, with Nicolás Márquez. The book parrots the cultural Marxism conspiracy theory, including antisemitic dog whistles that claim the Frankfurt School infiltrated academia worldwide.

One of the main speakers was Agustín Laje, a homophobic writer and proponent of the "cultural Marxism" conspiracy theory, which claims that Western culture has been infiltrated by Marxism through academia, the "gay lobby," and environmentalism.

The media latched onto a phrase by alt-right streamer Gordo Dan ("Fat Dan"), who called the group the "armed arm" and "praetorian guard" of Milei's government. They said "armed" meant digital weapons (social media, etc.), but it was still worrisome.

TW: Homophobia / Fascism / Alt-Right In Argentina, a hardcore Milei supporter group is now calling themselves "The Forces of Heaven" (Las Fuerzas del Cielo) and using Roman iconography, spreading messages about "virility," and talking about fighting "shitty leftists" and "not being a [f-word]."
An image of a stage featuring a speaker in front of a podium, silhouetted against a backdrop of tall red banners with gold lettering. The banners say (in spanish) "Property" "Liberty" "Life" "God" "Fatherland" "Family" and a central banner with the text "Argentina will be the beacon that will light the world". There are people seated on both sides of the podium.
