It’s only issue six, they are on their third writer, and advertising a new costume. They wanted to do something, but had no ideas. Nothing (outside of Colletta) is terrible, but there’s nothing outstanding either.

Geoff Johns turning a one-page gag into part of the plot (replacing Robert Khaniger w/ Lt Shrieve.) When DC released a trade of the original Creature Commandos a couple of years later, I picked it up because of this issue. The worded “written by JM DeMatteis” didn’t hurt.
