Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 07/10/2026The silver lining about them open sourcing their projects is that you can check the github page, see that claude is the top contributor, and instantly know to distrust it. Closed source projects are going to be scarier because it’s harder to gauge their quality. 040
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I find it gross that the purpose of these vibe coded tools supposedly made “by artists, for artists” seems to be selling you tokens to generate slop. I get that artists want to rid themselves of Adobe, completely understandable, but I dunno y’all, this doesn’t look like the solution. 2184
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026I’m pretty sure CTRL + SHIFT + Up/Down arrow also creates a new cursor above/below the current line. I say “pretty sure” because it’s muscle memory at this point so I forget the exact button combination. 010
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Though, now that I think about it, getting a ball park measurement of the friction between my table and a D6 shouldn't be too hard... 000
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026If anyone knows an efficient way to get the exact values for these, I'm all ears. If I had a ball of the same plastic that your typical dice are made of I would measure the coefficient of restitution myself, but I don't have one and don't even know where I would start looking. 100
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Trying to figure out the friction and 'bounce' coefficients to use in Godot has been primarily guess work. I started with some figures for the coefficients of friction and restitution that I found online and just started tweaking them until it looked better. 110
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026All dice use the D6 as a reference point for both their scale and weight. The D6 is 1 meter per side, is just under 1m^3 in volume, and weighs about 700kg. I used Blenders 3D printing add-on to get the volumes of all the dice and determined their weights using the ratio of current dice d6 volume. 100
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Today on 'when did it become 1 am', I've make some QOL features for generating the LUTs, remodeled all the current dice (most of my time was working to streamline the process), added the D10, and spent time calculating and implementing the weight of the dice since they are jumbo sized in simulation. 110
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The implementation of the number selector is simple, the hardest part is creating the LUT and that's only because it's a time consuming manual effort (and even then, it's not actually that long and could be sped up with an smidge of code). 010
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I’m looking forward to polishing this in my free time. Of course digital dice will never replace my magic math rock collection, so I doubt I’ll get much practical use out of this project. It’s been a short but fun learning experience though! 100
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026This, of course, creates the new issue where physics engines don’t like simulating fast moving things, so I just scaled the physics TPS up with the time scale (I think it’s running somewhere around 400TPS, kudos to the Jolt engine for running at that rate with hundreds of objects). 100
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The hardest part was getting the physics engine to cooperate. Anyone who’s spent time playing with physics engines knows that they don’t like to simulate small things, so you scale things up and turn up the time scale. 101
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The number on the dice is checked when the rigid body goes to sleep. This is done by taking the basis vectors of the rigid bodies transform, dot producting them with the global upwards variable, rounding the outputs to the nearest tenth, and searching a look up table with the result. 100
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I’ve spent the past few hours whipping up a dice roller in #godot for no other reason than I figured out how. As of now it only has D4, D6, and D8 because it’s late. 170

Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 19/07/2026I’ve decided to share some renders that I’ve made. I’m a blender artist of just over 6 years and sometime I feel like I don’t have a large volume of work to show off. #art #blender #noai #humanart #3dmodels #tf2 #teamfortress2 192

Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 12/07/2026Not particularly, Blender and Godot is what I use. For a video game cutscene they’re all you’d need, save for maybe Audacity to record your audio and some photo manipulator for texture work (though blender should do just fine in this regard) 040
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 12/07/2026Granted, I cannot say what the odds are of the best or worst case (my money is on the latter being more probable), but Blender and Godot will always be free and you’ll always have access to them. The same can’t be said for these other programs. 150
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 12/07/2026It wouldn’t hurt to dip your toes into these paid software. Best case, you pick up some software proficiencies that are useful to future employers. 120

Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 24/06/2026LTT pointed out that a reason why some people are disappointed in the performance is because it was advertised as a 4k-60fps (with upscaling) capable machine. If you dial your expectations back a bit the performance looks fine, albeit lower than what you’d expect for that price. Thanks AI. 020
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 22/06/2026I think I’ll let the people who actually do the work think about whats best, and I’ll let those with stronger feelings on the subject try to sway their opinions (If y’all are supporting godot financially and don’t like their AI policy, now would be a good time to stop, vote with your wallet or smth) 000
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 22/06/2026The godot codebase isn’t public in the sense that any and all contributions get accepted, there are maintainers that moderate what gets accepted. 100
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 22/06/2026I guess in my mind allowing some slop into the code is kinda of like legalizing weed. The main argument is that it’s going to be used whether we like it or not so we might as well allow it so it can be regulated. But of course it’s not an apples to apples comparison. 100
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 22/06/2026Ideally there would be none, but that’s wishful thinking. If the best solution is to fully disallow it, then I’m all for that, I just don’t know if that’s the best solution when it comes to transparency. 100
Feangar @feangar.bsky.social · 22/06/2026I think in hindsight, using the “if we don’t allow it then people will sneak it in” argument was a poor decision. Although I think it true, the point I was wanting to get across is that I’d like to know how much slop has gotten into the code base. 100
