On behalf of OCASI - Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants, I am delighted to congratulate FCJ Refugee Centre and to support its Gala Dinner. OCASI’s relationship with FCJ stretches back more than 30 years. FCJ has worked with OCASI since 1995 and has been an OCASI member since 2001. We have been proud to collaborate with FCJ on numerous refugee and migrant rights campaigns and to draw on the organization’s deep expertise as speakers, trainers and advocates. FCJ was also instrumental in the advocacy that led to the City of Toronto adopting its Access T.O. policy, strengthening access to City services for residents regardless of immigration status. FCJ is a deeply respected community-based voice for justice and human rights, with particular expertise in the rights and experiences of refugee women and migrant women without status. Its knowledge, commitment and close connection to the communities it serves strengthen our sector and our collective advocacy. OCASI is proud to support FCJ and its vital work, and we wish everyone a wonderful and successful Gala Dinner. -- Debbie Douglas, Executive Director, OCASI

Guided by its visionary founders Francisco and Loly, FCJ’s approach puts the dignity of every person at the centre of all its actions. Time after time, people who don’t fit into the cruel boxes of the legal and bureaucratic systems find at FCJ a friendly face, a helping hand and immediate solutions, as well as a determination to advocate, at the local, regional, national and international levels, for more human systems.
