Why your FAAB regrets this season are incomplete. “Business opportunities are like buses; there’s always another one coming around.” - @richardbranson.bsky.social Take the insight and apply it to fantasy baseball! fantasybaseballmindset.substack.com/p/fbm-musing...

Kelly Johnson's most distinctive Skunk Works rule: the person who designed the aircraft also flew it. Rudy Gamble (@rudygamble.bsky.social) of @razzball.bsky.social has a similar concept in his DARWINISM drafting/managing philosophy. I explain it in my latest musing below

The slowest manager in your league is not the one who takes the longest to draft. It's the one who hasn't built a system. So every Sunday night, they're re-litigating the same decisions from scratch. Speed of process. Patience of player. fantasybaseballmindset.substack.com/p/fbm-musing...

Successful results are about not getting distracted and doing something good enough for long enough. Simple but not easy.

With FAAB, you should try running experiments. Break big bets into smaller ones. Give yourself the opportunity to take lots of shots over the course of the season. You'll be less susceptible to shiny objects and sunk costs. Let yourself be wrong on the way to being right.

Snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in whatever small way possible. No matter the challenges in front of you. “Bad companies are destroyed by crisis. Good companies survive them. Great companies are improved by them.” - Andy Grove, former CEO of Intel

I was way too late on the JR Ritchie drop. Seemingly had to wait for the @braves.com to make the decision for me. Bad process. Fell prey to shiny objects and sunk costs. New musing below on the bid that cost me four weeks.

Continue to exercise excruciating patience or make the drop? 🎯 Patience is right when underlying skills are strong and surface results are bad. 🎯 Sunk cost diagnosis is right when the surface results are bad AND the skills were never there. fantasybaseballmindset.substack.com/p/fbm-musing...

If your fantasy team is middling, take it as a gift. You no longer need to be brilliant. You don't need the league-winning sleeper. You just need a lot of singles. The occasional double. Just be "consistently not stupid." as Charlie Munger says. 70% of the season is left.

Everyone too busy finding the new metric, the new tool...instead the answers are putting in the basic consistent work at whatever it is you're trying to do.

With the main draw at Roland Garros (the French Open) beginning next week, I wanted to incorporate the tournament's official motto behind my recent musing: "Victory belongs to the most tenacious." In fantasy baseball, that's the manager still asking why when everyone else has gone to bed.

Anyone can spot a hot bat. I think player drops speak louder and are more important. Reviewing the drops of top fantasy managers can help your process in being a better manager. What also helps is paying attention to the @ftnfantasy.com Drops & Disaster article by @lucasbiery33.bsky.social.

Copy the moves and you trap yourself in someone else's game. Copy the mindset and you build the same engine for yourself geared to your own strengths. The spreadsheets, the rankings, the bid sheets are the trophies of someone else's process. 💡⚾ fantasybaseballmindset.substack.com/p/fbm-musing...

The most dangerous moment in any long game isn't when things are going badly. It's when things have been going badly long enough that you start believing they always will. The season is seven weeks old. That's not a verdict. That's a data point.

For #fantasybaseball, just maintaining your observation on the basic boring metrics and playing time can go a long way to keep yourself in the game when things are not going according to plan.

The injuries on your screen are external. They've already happened. What's left is internal.
