The interactive part was cute and I finally got to see the log in action. Shoutout to Janice for the attention to detail posing the worm. The final install looks great.

Pokémon Fossils today! Let's all promise to be nice and respectful about this... not turn it into a gift shop scalping challenge. Let the kids get inspired to learn about the natural world. I just want to see some cool fossil comparisons and peek at a fake worm and a salamander under a log.

If you’re at the museum, you can see this book I worked on with Peggy and marine biologist Janet Voight

I love how everyone there genuinely loves to share knowledge. I got a personal tour of the scanning electron microscope today which was very exciting for me. I also got to learn about some in-progress fossil research. Huge thanks to my wonderful pal Peggy, as always.

It was awesome to go behind the scenes again at the Field Museum today. Hopefully I’ll give another brief college lecture about my work later this year. I hope everyone will enjoy all the hard work the team has been putting into the Pokémon Fossil Exhibit.

Just saw Iron Lung with my friends at the big theater! (I famously do not like blood or most horror. I did like the game when it came out a few years ago) As far as production/post goes: it was very well done. I was squeamishly watching the whole time but enjoyed the acting, color grading, SFX, etc.

Big fan of the antialiasing and use of palette colors. Subtle texture on the leaf is wonderful as well

I don’t know much about voice training but I’ll be honest, hearing you speak in the first part of this video, you sounded pretty close to how I imagine a deep-ish feminine voice is. Something about the way you carried the vowels when you said “anybody on here” specifically.

For sure! Feel free to share this info with Clue, as I’m unsure of the best way to contact them. To start, I have all 10 ION games.

I was there when Hasbro was making this console!! I’m one of the voices in the instructional video (me as a kid, that is). I have quite a few stories from the ION’s development and I’m pretty sure we’ve got dev materials too.

Anyone else get this unusual green sunrise in #PokemonLegendsZA ? When it happened, I thought it was a story event, but nothing came of it. Only occurred once (11/3, before recent update). The following early morning weather was a little hazy, nothing out of the ordinary. #plza #legendsZA

Oooh how lovely! What would you say are your most commonly used hues? You seem to have an expansive collection across the color spectrum!

The glow of the light scattering behind the leaves is so alluring. With the sky being a neutral gray instead of white, the brightest edges on the yellow pop. My eyes expected the sky area to be white; seeing that gray value is a visually interesting surprise. Also the truck is great, of course!

Just finished another library program teaching kids how Pokémon cards are produced. Then they get to draw their own card following official references and such. Of course for today’s example, I had to do a newly announced Mega. #pokemonZA #pokemonfanart

Needed a change with my PC decoration. Inspired by @samimarkart.bsky.social, I designed myself some vinyl stickers. I lasered the cork fossil a while back. (For anyone concerned about airflow: it’s fine ☺️)
A PC case decorated with iridescent decals of ammonite shells, crinoid star shapes, and an anomalocaris. Inside are 3 carefully placed plastic leaves and 3 small fake flowers.Alternate view of PC case. Inside the glass, resting on the GPU shelf is a mini laser cut made of cork, resembling the fossil icon from Animal Crossing.

The magenta version is unexpected but I love looking closely at it. Something about the magenta and warm sunny lighting contrasting the greens of the leaves captures my eye. This is also super specific but I love the color of the branch on the upper left. It’s vivid!

Ooh these are fascinating to see side by side. The yellow one has a lovely contrast between the cool/neutrals and the interior lighting. I also love the rim lighting of the doggy. I notice some greens coming through on the brick. Was the base color that same yellow?

Your color usage and shape language always draw me in 🥺💖 Your work captures the true beauty of reality without being photorealistic if that makes sense. I love looking at your pieces as a whole and then getting lost in the details of its creation; each brush stroke and color choice.

The values you choose for shading are so good. 🥹 The contrast is just right and appeals in a way that feels both unique and nostalgic.

Beautiful color choices as usual. I’m enchanted by your ability to capture so many properties of light. Also, it’s fun to see the effects of the values changing the composition, even though they are all the “same” foundation.

Does anyone have a digital brush (preferably for CSP) that looks like this palette knife technique (1st image)?? I’ve tried adapting brushes I have and ended up with this (2nd image) but it’s unoptimized and not responsive to stylus pressure in the way the palette knife would be.

Can finally post about this now that I’ve announced it. Been learning about new texturing methods, CGI motion tracking, and a bunch of other stuff to bring Minior to life! 💫 Screenshot is from my 2nd test.

And shoutout to the person who noticed the citations for Small Mario Findings and Toby Fox’s concept art. Hearing an attendee say “Deltarune tomorrow” during Q&A was very affirming. Great questions regarding the Pokémon leaks as well.

Thanks to everyone who came to my lecture about video game preservation at the library yesterday! It was great to hear that everyone in attendance was genuinely interested in this topic. I hope the Slide Docs and further resources are helpful.
