Alan Jones @faustajj.bsky.social · 4hI am inclined to think that Mr Goodwin is not the academic he is cracked up to be. What does he think she should swear by? I note that was she was able to get into the position of having to take the oath, unlike Mr G. Good that the UK electorate can occasionally show wise judgement. 000
Alan Jones @faustajj.bsky.social · 4hThis swearing by something sacred to you strikes most atheists (me) as a bit daft. But clearly if you are religious and it has meaning for you, it would appear reasonable to swear by something reflecting your faith. It also makes it more reliable for us in receipt of the oath. 100

Alan Jones @faustajj.bsky.social · 13/10/2026It is an odd tendency of racist nationalists to assume that people contribute to the nation in racial groups. They do this without self awareness, without thinking what would be expected of their contribution to the nation. Or is being of the the nation enough so they don't have to do anything? 010

Alan Jones @faustajj.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Good question, interestingly (or not) etymology of bomb goes back to Greek Bombos meaning booming noise so boom would be appropriate.
