AI bans miss the lesson. KPMG found 73% of students in Canada use AI for schoolwork, and 45% start assignments with AI. Schools like VEGA Academy set AI limits by task and require citations. Teach judgment, not avoidance. Would your school ban AI or teach its use?

New Brunswick is adding AI to its K–12 curriculum. Grade 7 students use AI to study cybersecurity and program robots. Norway bans most student use through Grade 7 🤷🏻‍♀️ Should schools teach AI now or wait?

Abu Dhabi is teaching AI from K through Gr 12. Across 170 independent schools, students will question AI outputs, build systems, and protect privacy. ADEK will train 19,000 teachers and assess students two times per year. The goal: use AI without surrendering judgment.

A district found its EdTech met 90% of its needs. Leaders expanded it instead of replacing it. They saved money and time. Ask teachers what problem needs solving before you buy. Tech should support teaching, not become the work.

We shut classroom screens for one school day. Students built, debated, wrote, and solved problems together. Teachers found where tech served learning and where habit drove use. Try one day without screens. What earns a place when they return?

A teacher thought laziness explained why school drained him. An ADHD diagnosis changed how he teaches math. Students watch his videos, work on whiteboards, and sit with him as he grade. He carried less in his head. Students get feedback on the spot.

4 in 10 teachers surveyed in Canada say over half their students use AI for homework. Most report declines in writing, analysis, and thinking in class. Is AI supporting learning or replacing it?

Vietnam tested AI lessons, STEM projects, and clubs in 2025–26. In 2026–27, the program reaches K-12 schools across the country. The goal goes beyond tool use. Students must master AI while preserving thought, integrity, and responsibility. Education faces its test.

AI belongs in schools. Half of Canadian surveyed agree, while 70% say students will use AI often in their careers. Yet over 75% fear harm to thinking, writing, and literacy. Teach AI as a tool, not a crutch.

AI will not replace education. It will shift the goal from producing answers to asking questions, checking sources, and owning decisions. Hong Kong schools will add AI literacy to plans in 2026–27. The exam: did you think, or did AI think for you?

A policy does not create inclusion. Neurodivergence affects 15–20% of people, including teachers. School leaders: share agendas before meetings, break tasks into steps, and offer rooms for breaks. Accept reports in speech or writing. Build work around strengths, not stigma.

Multilingual learner support is every teacher’s job. Skip the toolkit-first approach. Train staff, schedule 60–90 minutes for unit planning, run learning walks each month, and track subgroup data. Leaders make language growth part of school practice.

Belonging predicted college retention better than high school GPA. School leaders build belonging through name-by-name greetings, relationship maps, and student check-ins. Ask your team: Which student has no adult in their corner?

Meta agreed to pay up to $17.1B to settle claims its platforms addicted children. IG and FB will limit teens to 2 hours, mute nights and school hours, hide like counts, and flag users under 13. But feeds chosen by algorithms stay on unless teens switch them off. Would you switch yours off?

Crickets when 4000 academic jobs a year are being lost in the UK and entire campuses are being shut down because of lack of funding and the secondary effects of Brexit but plenty of ink to hound a man to an early death. Despicable behaviour from the British press.

Schools are split on AI & screens. Some ban devices. Others push teachers to adopt tools with no shared plan. When staff avoid hard talks, Ss pay the price. Strong schools set clear norms, audit tools, & ask one question: why is this screen here? If your team has no shared answer, start the meeting.

Education advocates urge schools to cut ties with Google over AI Search. Child safety groups warn AI answers in classrooms raise risk for Ss. They question data use, accuracy, & legal exposure for schools. Google is adding more AI to Search. Should your school rely on tools it does not control?

Alberta is hiring an Education Policy Advisor for AI. They will lead AI policy across K–12, shape curriculum, guide assessment, and build an AI Literacy Framework. The role covers privacy, data governance, equity, and system strategy. AI is moving into schools, who is ready to set the rules?

California just banned AI from teaching kids. Law says only humans can teach in public schools. The new law blocks AI from replacing staff., effecive Jan 1, 2027. Some students use AI for language and learning support. If AI helps your child learn, should the state block it?

AI will not fix schools. Stanford’s AI Hub found weak evidence for Ss gains & low use among elementary Ss, even with time set aside. T. see more benefit, especially those with less experience. Start with what schools are for, then test AI in support of those goals. Focus on screen value.

AI education is turning into a national race. China & the UAE made AI compulsory in schools in 2025. India plans it for Class 3, but only 15% of teachers are AI‑fluent. The US leads in AI research, yet only four states teach it in K‑12. The winners will train teachers first, not chase headlines.

Screens run your classroom. Before you open an app, ask: what is this helping students do? Are they thinking or clicking, discussing or sitting alone? What is this replacing: talk, writing, struggle, peer work? Your judgment shapes learning, not the device.

EdTech faces backlash, but parents do not want bans. 63% want schools to teach Ss how to use AI effectively, & most want notice when AI touches their child’s work. They see social media as harmful yet view phones & AI as job skills. Admin must explain screen limits, teach AI, & build media literacy

60% of Alberta teachers report no training to spot AI homework, and 64% report no guidance to teach students how to use AI. Fewer than half report a school policy for student AI use. Students move fast with AI while schools move slow, so what is your school board doing about it?

AI tutors now run a $4,500/w summer school in the Hamptons. Alpha School uses AI to teach math & reading in 2h/day, then shifts kids to cooking, finance, and public speaking. NYC tuition hits $65,000 a year, backed by $1B from a tech founder. Some parents line up, others push back on screens.

Norway is moving to block AI tools in primary schools. Students ages 6 - 13 will not use generative AI, & older students will face limits. Students spend 4h/day on social media and get 200+ notifications. Fights, bullying, and pressure move from screens to school halls. Instead of bans, teach media literacy, set tech norms, and ask students what they see online. When you guide their online choices, you shape how they show up offline.

OpenAI is bidding on the keyword “Chalkie.” Chalkie started last year & now serves 500k T & 10m Ss. T search it to save hours on lesson planning, so the brand name became a paid ad target. When a giant bids on your name instead of the problem, you built demand.

Edtech is under fire after a book sparked panic about screen time. Parents fear devices harm kids, while schools keep investing in AI & 1-2-1 tools. The fix is not tech-free schools, but tech with limits: clear screen rules, & teachers who walk the room. Are you using screens with purpose? #EduSky

250 experts want a 5-year ban on generative AI in K–12 schools. They say AI harms developing brains and call for an immediate pause. Fairplay leads the coalition and warns failed tools should face a permanent ban. It took 10 years to remove phones from schools. Will we repeat that delay with AI?
