One of the biggest myths about authors is that they make a lot of money. The truth is that the vast majority make next to nothing. I have 17 books available, but I work as a janitor. What I make in a day is equal to what I make in book royalties in a YEAR. Very few get rich nowadays.

Do people really have like a thousand tabs open on their internet browsers? I rarely have more than two open at a time, and I close them all when I'm done.

How does anybody turn in soda pop cans anymore? Or bottles, for that matter? Five cents is the new penny. You'd have to turn in 50+ cans and bottles to have enough money to buy one soda pop at most US gas stations. Nota bene: I barely drink soda anymore, but still don't see the point nowadays.

I wanted to do the 9 games thing just because. This really is only a small pocket of games, though. I grew up exposed to Atari, Coleco, NES, Sega Master System, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, PS1, then Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC throughout *back to when they still called it IBM compatible.)

We always had the pop radio station on in the car (One oh seven one, WORK FM, Barrrreee!) Being that I grew up in the 80s AND 90s, I got exposed to all sorts of music (classic rock, grunge, techno, country, etc.) Coupled with my own exploration, I have a very broad taste is music, and i love it.

Metroid was the OG troll. Boys play all through the game only to find out they were playing as a girl. EW GROSS YUCK! Ha ha!

Always expected more. Always DID more. Wanted a house, couple of new(ish) cars, comfy living. Worked full time for 20 years now. Spent 19(ish) of those years on food stamps despite. We DO have a couple of decent cars, but they are 7 and 8 years old. I'm 45 and still waiting to buy my first house.

I don't know, maybe more people need to grow up poor. I did (still kind of am) and from observation, I seem to have a lot more respect for money than the richer folk around here. The nicest people often come from the most modest backgrounds, as well.

Say what you want, but I miss the 90s. Great music from one end to the other. Nobody buried in their phones. People still read books, went to movies, hung out at the club... Sure, everything wasn't perfect, but compared to today? Gods, yes, please.

Some of the best video game music I've heard was from a little shareware computer game called Acid Tetris from the mid to late 90s. I got lucky and was able to hunt down mp3s of the songs a few years ago and still listen to them. Look it up if you can. The game was a lot of fun, too.
