It has finally cooled off enough to wear my MDF long sleeve for the first time

I don't know why I'm bothering to write a Bandcamp Friday post shilling my album when I know damn good and well you're all listening to @wraithstormmetal.bsky.social today. But if you don't have it already buy it here and help me finance physical copies fathomlessmetal.bandcamp.com/album/ii-thy...

As a fan of both black metal and Primus I'm having a really hard time thinking of a Primus song that would be better suited to a black metal cover version than Southbound Pachyderm.

That movie is so goddamn good. Speaking of Kirk Douglas Criterion films, have you seen Ace in the Hole?

Volcandra is awesome live. I chatted with them for a bit after seeing them in OKC last year and they're super nice people too.

The Wire would be my #1, but that's not the point. Where the fuck is The Sopranos?

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

I've also been primarily listening to the new Nirensimt songs, because I've been tracking bass parts for them.

How dare you ask me, a bassist, to choose only one? You get a dozen, and be glad I stopped there

Situations where I give a shit if an audience member is wearing the band's shirt: none Situations where I might personally wear the band's shirt: if they're the opener and I'm there primarily to support them, or if I haven't seen the headliner in a while and wear a shirt from a previous tour

This has been a gloriously weird lineup of bands. I came in with no expectations and have been having a blast.

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

I feel the same way about breakdowns. A well placed, well executed breakdown is a thing of beauty. Too many and I'm bored to death. Probably why I naturally recoil from most genres with a "-core" suffix

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

Whoracle, Colony, and Clayman are all fantastic. I don't acknowledge anything that came after

010

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

I've been listening to early In Flames this afternoon, and I'm having a hard time thinking of a band that fell off harder than In Flames after Clayman. Seriously, what the hell happened with/to them to make them go from the melodeath masterpiece of Clayman to...whatever they are now?

I was legitimately shocked when I heard Idris Elba speak in his native accent for the first time. I had no idea

I need a Saquon jersey. Or maybe Zack Baun

$32k! I don't get to say this often enough, but great job OKC. Last night was a blast and I'm glad we collectively got to support a great cause (also I hope someone enjoys my T-shirt that I somehow managed to lose between the venue and the car)

Over $9k by the end of Nightosphere's set sisuyouth.org

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

Nightosphere is killing it right now. I doubt I would have come across them if it weren't for this show

130

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

$8200+ by the end of Traindodge's set. They're local legends who have been around for 30 years. I'd describe their set as "Fugazi but make it super math rock" sisuyouth.org

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

1 band done, up to over $7700 already sisuyouth.org

Tonight's Chat Pile show is not just their album release show, but also a benefit concert for Sisu Youth Services. They're working to end homelessness for LGBT+ youth. If you want to donate as well, here's a link sisuyouth.org

I'm gonna see a bunch of the new album live on Saturday. I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole album yet, but it's on my list

130

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Even better. I still have to finish the tracks for Nirensimt and Fathomless III anyway

030

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Hit me up if you need a bass player. I'm always looking for side quests

120

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Don't watch Generation Kill then. The guy that plays Ziggy is a main character, and is basically the same kind of loudmouth idiot he played in The Wire

020

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Maybe opinions of it have softened in recent years, but 15-20 years ago most people I talked to hated it. S2 also contains my favorite scene in TV history when Omar is testifying in court and humiliates Levy

120

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

S2 of The Wire is criminally underrated

120

Tyler - Fathomless @fathomlessmetal.bsky.social · 04/09/2026

I'd love for more people to buy the album so I can finance physical copies, but I'm fully aware that just about everything is awful these days and money is tighter for just about everyone. If you want either Fathomless album (or both) but can't afford to spend $$, DM me for free download codes

Steve makes good music, you should buy some. He also graciously agreed to take time out of his busy schedule to appear on my nerdy little Star Trek inspired blackened death album. This has been my obligatory #bandcampfriday post fathomlessmetal.bandcamp.com/album/ii-thy...

Can confirm. Peder is not only making the songs More Metal, but asking me to make my parts More. I have already utilized the entire 5 octave range of my 6 string bass, plus added upright bass and fretless bass guitar parts.

I'm also interpreting this as "bands with at least one album I like." But there are several on here I'd consider some of my favorite artists

My neighbor has 2 of them, and they're the clingiest creatures I've ever seen. If theirs are any indication of typical sugar glider behavior then I believe the only thing you'd accomplish with an army of them is being buried alive by small furry marsupials
