My SV650 has a 1980s Tamagotchi style LCD display. It does a good job of giving me the information I need, and the shape of the screen looks like someone has thought about it. I do like the round TFT on the new Triumph Speed Twin. Again... it looks like it's been designed.
Suzuki SV650 LCD display a rounded rectangle skewed with a larger edge along the top. Very 1980s digital watch look.A round motorcycle speedometer, but actually a TFT. Use of colour but it doesn't look like a mobile phone.

I'll be just down the road from the seaside resort of Bishop Auckland. I expect Newton Cap Bridge will be a wonderful place to do some sea-angling.

Stockton* > Darlington > Shildon > Bishop Auckland... I'm on the train! Lol. I dropped the motorcycle in for its first service, and now I'm feeling blessed that the public transport home is both easy** and steeped in railway history. *Thornaby **except evenings and Sundays.

I think the engineers of Whorlton Bridge might be back soon then... you've said, "the roads weren't built for cars", and few roads have been strengthened for SUVs. Those lightweight bollards and low narrow curbs may not be sufficient to defend an onslaught of SUV-drivers-following-SatNavs.
