"combined arms" is another way of saying "rock paper scissors" and if don't understand the latter, stay away from defense punditry.

Here in British Columbia, we have a major river, the Fraser, that empties into the Pacific. Now and then, body parts show up on the shores of Vancouver from upstream. The balance of left feet to right feet is heavily tilted towards left feet. 😖

A small, simple hand-drawn outline of a child on a solid black background. The child's shirt is bright orange, and the rest of the figure is drawn in soft grey. Beneath it, in small grey serif type, are the words 'September 30, 2026.

Flash the placard showing texts, but not long enough to read it, leaving the impression they've got a smoking gun. Unless Smith does exactly what he did, with Klobucher's help (i.e., calmly identify the error), he looks like he was caught on camera getting busted.

Great news, @markscrivens.bsky.social : Golden, BC has rescinded its earlier vote to secede from the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) wrt timezones. Rather than align with BC, it will follow the larger district in aligning on ABT. A timezone-creating schism has been averted!

I think you've got a winning tourism slogan there
A landscape in Iceland with a deep blue sky, white clouds, pointy mountain, light green meadows, a lake, and some solitary buildings with the caption "everywhere in Iceland feels like you're being driven into the countryside to be murdered"

Nono, that's normal. The airport is, like, a long distance from the actual city. And everywhere in Iceland feels like you're being driven into the countryside to be murdered. But in daylight you'll see a lot of very sexy emo ponies.

In his heart of hearts, Clancy believed that conservatives were the smarter, more common sensical group. MAGA would have been a decade of rubbing his nose in RFKjr's ass-crack.

I can't decide if Clancy would have wanted to live this long. No one would scream louder that this is all so fucking stupid, and if he made it to the Iran war he'd probably stroke out. OTOH, he'd find endless interviews. He'd have been the premier never-trumper.

What your map leaves out is that, in BC, while the GMT offset might by uniform, the three letter abbreviation will still be different. Vancouver will have PCT; Fort Nelson will keep MST. Meanwhile, Alberta will uniformly be labelled ABT, which is MDT, which is what will be used in the Kootenays.

it means that BC on PCT and Fort Nelson on year-round MST will have matching clocks all year, but different abbreviations. BTW, MST is becoming a BC only thing because Alberta is moving to ABT, which is MDT year round (copying BC). Cranbrook will still observe MDT; the Peace will not.

I'm literally the guy explaining how this all works to the BC Gov ministry of transport. The maintainers of the timezone database (both of them!) call out the mayor of Elkhorn, BC in the comments for being indecisive.
