Tomorrow night in Philly! I'll join a panel at the American Philosophical Society to discuss developmental editing: what it is, when it happens in a manuscript workflow, how to find an editor or a client, and advice for writers and editors. Looking forward to it!

Challenge: Post your last photo taken in DC to show what a hell-hole it is.

A group of World War II veterans in their 90s poses in front of the World War II memorial in Washington DC. A fountain sprays water in the background. In the distant background in the Lincoln Memorial. The weather is gorgeous.

Hi friends! I had fun talking with Therese Brown of the Association of Catholic Publishers about self-publishing scams and how to spot them. The video is here. Enjoy! youtu.be/772DDVDT85o...

I literally stopped traffic this week to grab this little guy who was running around under moving cars, scared out of his mind. My kid now insists we keep him, obviously. Orange kitten saviors unite!

The cat distribution system seems to have decided we need a 3rd cat. We rescued this little dude yesterday on a major road in rush hour when I saw him darting between moving cars. /1

Had SO MUCH FUN teaching 4th graders about my work as an editor at Career Day today. Watching their eyes bug out when I introduced this example was worth the raspy voice by the end of 90 minutes.

Season tickets to the Philadelphia Ballet = one of the best things I do for myself. Saw Alvin Ailey’s “The River” yesterday (as part of 3 Dance Masterpieces) and it was breathtaking.

My new hobby: Zentangle! This is my very first one. Considering how methodical and left-brained I tend to be, I really enjoy this way of engaging with my creative, freeform side. It’s a great form of self-care.
