It's difficult to overestimate the insidiousness of the patriarchy in media. Take the "beloved" 70s show Green Acres. In the title sequence they argue over living in the country (him) or city (her). At the end of the song, he says, "You are my wife!" and grabs her arm and pulls her with him. Fuck.

I was on antidepressants once. I realized I was still depressed, but by taking the medication I JUST DIDN’T CARE that I was, so I stopped taking them.
