Right, the Natick was trying to find ways to use the wasted meats bits that were scraped off the bone I got the history wrong: chicken nuggets were invented by McD’s suppliers separately, after they’d tested the Natick pork processing in the form of the McRib a few years prior

How US Army Technology Gave Rise to the McRib
The US Army pioneered restructured meats in the 1960s, and that technology found its way into beloved fast food menu staples.

The McRib (and all chicken nuggets) originated as technology for US Army rations.

There is some practical barrier here. Lots of folks I grew up with just cannot imagine the benefits of living in the city because they’ve never experienced it. It feels stressful to visit so they can never imagine it feeling comfortable, never mind what you discover after it’s easy to navigate.

Also, the richest, most sophisticated animal “languages” are surely those in close, social contexts—which are also fully and necessarily embodied. The sounds are only part of the language.

Outside of coding teams, I think abstracting that internal information layer is the primary industry use case LLMs are actually being implemented for today

In a corporate environment, “documentation” is such a necessary, burdensome beast. So many hours finding, packaging and repackaging information in slightly different ways for slightly different audiences and then lost to be tracked down and repackaged again

Someone said it’d be transformational in the way filing cabinets were transformative. So not limited to a subset of users, but a back office tech where its largest effects may be invisible to most

My classic loop is dreading some task 6 steps down the line so can’t get my brain to think about all the easier ones before it (that often reveal the dreaded step to be much easier or unnecessary) Yes the tools do allow you outsource some thinking (laudatory)

They let my 73yo mother who regularly hosts her baby grandkids adopt a dog with known aggression issues toward children! Like did they think it’d somehow be less hassle to write up how it mauled their customer’s grandbaby than to find the pup a better fit?

Genuinely as a supremely ADHD hindered human, having the chatbot ask me basic ass questions about what needs to happen next is often genuinely helpful. My response is usually “no you stupid tin bucket we need to do THIS next” but then like, now I know
