Personally, I definitely disagree with the blanket bans. I think there is sufficient evidence to say that some regulations should still be *considered* but they need to be more careful until more research is performed. After all, you can't gather data when there aren't any athletes to study

I felt it important to do more digging here so I looked more at a reference in [1] that fixed many of the things I complained about.[3] The sample is of members of the US Air Force (Athletic individuals) and they have mandated regular training. The study showed that many benchmarks equalized. BUT...

Importantly, [2] also mentioned that there were not enough studies taking into account the amount of training done to reduce the rate of muscle loss, and those that did, didn't do a good job of it. I believe that info to be important for making a proper conclusion here.
