And finally for the month, Vampire Deacon Frost appears as the big payoff for all your Vampiric nonsense this season. He reads insane, but I'm trying to temper my expectations a little bit, personally.

This is a great card that I fear reads stronger than it actually will be in practice. There's only a dozen cards that steal power in the game, but you can likely make a pretty decent deck including a few of those. Cards like Vamp KM, Laufey, Rocket and Groot, Silver Sable, and Cassandra Nova are going to be some of your best choices, I think. And once you flip this guy, the Crimson Behemoth is a genuine terror. When he flips, he STEALS all the power from a front row card. This reads like Fin Fang Foom on steroids, on a 9-Power body. That being said, I think the work that is required to make this flip is meaningful, and you give your opponent time to prepare for the Behemoth, unlike a surprise Foom. This is still an immensely powerful effect, especially combined with bonus copies of the effect like Grandmaster, Arnim Zola, or Abs Man. I can see Deacon running totally rampant, or landing with a thud, depending on how necessary Luke Cage becomes come the end of the season. This is powerful text though and worth paying attention to.

I can't really give this less than a 2, she at least has some stats for an aggressive deck that plays to board, but it's hard to be excited about what is at most a 3/7 on herself and 3/10 if the card she steals from while winning all 3 lanes is played. Are those solid stats? I'm not sold on the 3/7 side and winning all 3 lanes isn't the easiest play on a 3-Cost. Terrax, her closest comparison, usually only got 2 when he was seeing play from my experience. Can't say I'm seeing the vision on wanting to play this beyond needing playable cards for Vampire Deacon Frost (we're getting there!) or some weird Scorpion deck that wants steals instead of aiming for the combo line.

There are 10 other cards in the game that trigger When Discarded: Wolverine, Apocalypse, X-23, Helicarrier, Khonshu, Marrow, Proxima Midnight, Swarm, and Weapon H. I am not sure that Zombie Black Cat moves the needle on any of those cards. Discard is in one of the worst places it's been in the meta for a long time and this kind of effect is not likely to fix that, even as a free 5-Power option. Even combined with Proxima, I just don't see this making a splash right now. This feels like an S4 Gamemode card with how limited it feels and I'm shocked this is coming out of an S5 pack right now.

I'm cool with a 2/6 that requires a big of work. Combine this with Firehair and Misery in the Zombie Destroy shell and you're looking at a 2/12 that requires a bit of work. I like those numbers on both ends when the deck cares about the Horde. I also just like seeing them play with trigger combinations from a design perspective, it definitely opens up a lot of options!

Big 6s are back! This seems like a very powerful single-lane winner that belongs in the same slot as Anti-Polar Magneto in a deck. Decks with wide cost diversity feel like they would absolutely love this. At the current absolute maximum, she could technically be a 6/25, but you're almost never playing this with 9 different costs in play. I view this closer to a 6/15-6/19 which will basically win the lane you play it in. Being able to have 4 different costs on board is marginal, I think, and more than that doesn't seem very hard, since she takes up the 6 slot as is. It's not quite the same as a big 6 like GalactusFS, as he also warped play patterns for lane aggression, but I see this closer to a Fin Fang Foom, going absolutely massive in a lane.

More targeted destroy is always appreciated, for one, but making every single destroy you do after playing him worth +2 to another location reads like genuinely great text. It's very possible this isn't a particularly broken card, but I'm giving this a 4/5⭐️ because I believe that the existing Destroy Zombies deck is getting a huge upgrade from this card and that even outside of that, this seems well worth experimenting with. Very cool release.

Zombie Blade on the other hand feels a bit too situational. He's got a pretty basic 2/3 statline, but the fact he doesn't do anything the turn he's played unless you pair him with an On Reveal, unlike Vamp KM, who triggers himself on turn 2, makes him already feel slower. Even more so, most Zombie decks are looking to get Zombie Scarlet Witch out on turn 3, marking another turn without an On Reveal being played. This feels like an inferior version of Vamp KM in every way - play thing, steal power from your opponent's hand - but asks a lot more of you in the archetype for a smaller reward. He's playable, but he doesn't seem great.

Vampire Killmonger isn't a flashy card and isn't a card you just build a deck around, but he's an absurdly excellent curve filler that will slot directly into decks as one of the best 2-drops you can be playing, I think. The Vampiric Spears become top tier curve filler cards, as basically 1/4s that you play to power up VKM by stealing power from your opponent's hand. In a sense this reminds me of Shadowlands Daredevil, but with much more control and much more potential disruption. All he asks if you play to your curve and he rewards you with 1-Cost Skills that help you play to your curve. Excellent card. I expect to see this a good amount with things like Werewolf By Night and perhaps Wiccan.

Not loving this iteration of Draft at all. It's RNG stacked on RNG and maybe a little more. The drafts seem weaker, the outliers remain crazy, and unfortunately the new scoring system (updated even from prior Sanctums) makes it EVEN HARDER to catch up with. This one is gonna be rough. #MarvelSnap

Went 3-1 at the Reality Fracture prerelease last night with a Black/Red/White "removal and life gain" deck with the white Liliana as the big hit. Basically just stuck some bodies and cleared the way. Also pulled Emrakul but didn't include her in the deck!

Been having an absolute blast with it so far too. Been trying to largely clear areas before hitting up the Resonants, which has felt successful. Enemies are SO tanky though, so I've been going so heavy into damage currently. I'm on daggers / drill with the big damage finisher with a lot of success.

After 18 splits, I FINALLY got something nice for Pedro, and then hit the l27 milestone to also get this Ink+Black as my first traditional god split lol. White Neon is really fitting here, but Antique Gold, Blue Distressed, and Blue Cosmic were nice as well. #MarvelSnap
