We have reached 2,000 main space pages on FamiWiki! This was possible thanks to the active contributors to FamiWiki who've also expanded many of these pages.
Home to 2,000 pages about the Family Computer (or Famicom for short) and Super Famicom plus everything else in between.

Prior to 2023, famiwiki.net was a genealogy resource website which offered a free family tree builder. This lasted roughly from 2010 to 2016 as the domain expired. 7 years later, it would be picked up by us for our Famicom wiki website.

Users who search famiwiki.com will now be automatically redirected to famiwiki.net, rather than encountering an error page. We hope this provides a smoother experience for anyone who uses the .com address instead of .net.

Our Main Page has been updated to include all the wiki sites under The OpenWiki Project. We greatly appreciate being apart of this project otherwise we wouldn't exist today.

Notice anything different? FamiWiki has updated the background of the site to feature a repeating pulseline image. A dark mode version has also been created. famiwiki.net

There's no such thing as a Japanese NES.

There's the Family Computer. There's the Nintendo Entertainment System. And there's the Disk System. But there's no such thing as a Japanese NES. You see, "Japanese NES" is not an accurate term to describe the Famicom. The Famicom predates the NES by two years and has attributes that do not apply to the NES. The use of the term can create misinformation and is often not helpful as a description for the Famicom. So please describe the Famicom properly as its own video game console. And never use the NES out of familiarity when it is not appropriate.

We thank you. Diskun thanks you.

Big news: we've received a huge shoutout in the Japanese press! Thanks to AUTOMATION for the mention! automaton-media.com/articles/new...
Translation: This time, users who have already played the game have reported that the glitches have been fixed. In particular, Brenden, the administrator of FamiWiki, an information site for the Famicom and Super Famicom, introduced several user reports in a quote post.

33 years ago, the Super Famicom was released in Japan. It was Nintendo's third home video game console after the Famicom and the fifth overall video game product released after the Game Boy. The Super Famicom sold 17.17 million units and was discontinued in 2003.
This is a photography of the Super Famicom by Evan-Amos of Wikimedia Commons. The Super Famicom is primarily colored grey, with a colorful logo on the top right, an eject button to remove the cartridge, and buttons for power and reset. The controllers are grey like the console along with the standard directional pad, two "L" and "R" shoulder buttons, and colorful "A", "B", "X", and "Y" buttons that match the colorful Super Famicom logo.
