considering that this game didn't release for a whole year after this it's interesting to see how visually close to final it already is I do have to wonder when the 1998 and 1999 batches will be out the door

Can we just appreciate how the animators animated Carl being deluxe upset? I'm pretty sure it isn't used any other time in the programme.

A few old ACNH screenshots back from what felt like a whole different world (yes, already).

Celebrating with Sheldon (one of two initial villagers on my island). At least he had the right idea.

An image of me and some friends, one of whom I no longer talk to.
From left to right: Olivia, Me (Tobison), Niro, Unusual

Another old screenshot, just a day after I had been given the game as a birthday gift.
From left to right: ??? (Unusual possibly?), Olivia, Niro, Me (Tobison)

The first ever screenshot of Tobison's face.
There were screenshots before, but they were all in Nook's tent at the beginning of the game.

Screw it, here's a screenshot of the last successful NGLayout build (left: without xpfe, right: with xpfe)

KurejiiTobi（クレジーとび） @famitsu.krazeetobi.org · 18/06/2025

NGLayout is up to September 1998. At least the startup crash is gone now. Still can't load the Rebuild website though.

NGLayout has reached August 1998. Can't do a whole lot since this build crashes immediately upon starting.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is where Firefox's Gecko engine started. July 8th, 1998 is the earliest date that I've been able to compile it, and god damn is it early.
