Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 18/12/2025We thought we knew how we were going to attach a GameCube Adapter directly to a Nintendo Switch 2, but then a quick trip to pick up some additional hardware gave us other ideas. See what we did! youtu.be/0dbsxWqCVqA 020
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 16/12/2025Why do we only ask for $1 to see our videos early? Because it’s better than an ad. Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 10/12/2025I’m not saying we have new videos on the way but… 040
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 05/12/2025Don't know which version of Metroid Prime 4 to get, or other games with Switch 2 Editions? We got you. 051
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 04/12/2025It’s conceptually similar to how black Game Boy Color carts worked on the original Game Boy, but provided additional features if played on a Game Boy Color. 131
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 04/12/2025If you’re ever not sure, you can check the blurb on the bottom of the Switch 2 Edition game case to be sure, or get more details at support.nintendo.com/switch2/upgradepack 101
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 04/12/2025All Switch 2 Edition carts work in the original Switch; it contains the Switch game as well as the Upgrade Pack. It’s kind of like a black Game Boy Color cartridge that can work on the OG Game Boy! There’s a blurb on the bottom of the very ugly case art of all compatible games: 130
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 04/12/2025It’s time to reassemble the Mystical Triangle! Save a far-off fantasy land today. Only six of eight triangle pieces included: famicom-dojo-shop.fourthwall.com/collections/... Also save 10% on all Winter Dojo merch! It’s a win-win. 000
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 26/11/2025Also if like me us got a digital upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition of any of your Switch 1 games, the icon still shows up as black like a Switch 1 cart does. Technically accurate, as that’s the cart we would insert! 3/4 110
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 26/11/2025But now instead of the solid blue icon we get a little came card and label. Even better, Switch 1 software is black while Switch 2 software is red, just like the real thing. 2/4 110
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 26/11/2025The latest major Switch and Switch 2 firmware update included this little quality of life improvement to the main menu. When Virtual Game Cards were added, there was no distinguishing them at all glance from physical media. 1/4 120
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 23/11/2025Never played, or even saw this one before. Funky Fantasy for the Sega Saturn. Maybe I’ll try it on stream. It looks… yeah… 020
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 18/11/2025We only had the chance to interview her once (with missed promises to do it again) but “Burger” Becky Heineman impacted our gaming lives so much. Vinnk as an Apple II kid and Sean for Out of This World SNES and more. As adults we appreciated her contributions, genius and kindness even more. (1/2) 1100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 09/11/2025Gonna play this one (beyond just testing the cart) for the first time in about 20 years… will my nostalgia betray me? 010
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 10/10/2025When we noticed that Super Famicom Nintendo Classics got an update today, our first thought was we finally got the other 16-bit mouse game that never came out in the US, and… WE WERE RIGHT (AGAIN)! Mario & Wario is out now, and available to play for the first time in the US!! 250
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 28/04/2025I am exposing my kids to some classic games. They can make entire worlds in Minecraft but it took about an hour for them to figure out level 1-1 in Super Mario. Look at how excited they are when they finally did it. Video games should always feel like this. 0100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 04/04/2025We've been poring over Switch 2 information on the Nintendo website, and found this nugget buried in the System Transfer page: all Switch controllers will be compatible with Switch 2. This is timely news for several videos we are developing, and in keeping with how Switch handled compatibility. ✌️ 152
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025There’s more, like some great first and third party games, including FFVII finally coming home to Nintendo five console generations (and one human generation) later, but we’re gonna stop for now. Let us know if you want us to make a video version of this summary! /28 010
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025We want to update our recent video about how to download the Japanese versions of these consoles, but it may not be possible. @vinnk.bsky.social found out that reportedly Japan will be offering a region locked and a more expensive multi-region Switch 2. Will the US follow suit? #EndRegionLocking /26 100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Even more shocking, the GameCube virtual console will let you map controls! And not for just the GameCube controller, but any compatible one. None of the NSO VCs currently do; will that change with the Nintendo Classics rebrand? Will any of the Switch 1 controllers still work? We need answers! /25 100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025I’m sure people are wondering if this will work with Metroid Prime 4, and it very well may since it has all the buttons. I will probably also work with Metroid Prime remastered (mostly), which means we should resurrect a cancelled video about how nostalgia for this control scheme is BAD. /24 100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Unsurprisingly, there is also a GameCube NSO controller. Like the N64 offering, it has Home and Share buttons along the top, as well as ZL to access the NSO menu. The new C Button is also present. Will there be no need for a GameCube adapter? (Will they stillwork?) Will these work on Switch 1? /23 100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025This will likely bring more people into the NSO Expansion Pack than N64 or Sega Genesis ever could. It was a good move. /22 100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Complete and utter shock is the inclusion of the GameCube “Nintendo Classics” virtual console; we were convinced they’d make remakes forever. They said it was for Switch 2 only, and available at launch, so we’ll see just how OG Switch prevents you from downloading Switch 2-only digital games. /21 100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025*Calling back to post 18, the Expansion Pack WILL allow you to play any Upgrade Packs for free so long as you keep your subscription, so it may be hard for us to demo what happens with OG Switch games since @seanorange.bsky.social pays for it. Maybe delete all users, or unsubscribe…? /20 121
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025As expected, your NSO subscription will continue to work on Switch 2, but no news of any Switch 2-exclusive titles, like Mario Paint, Mario Artist, or Mario & Wario. :( /19 110
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025There are no details on how this will work, exactly, but it will not be free*, which can complicate matters, and is in stark contrast to Microsoft’s model. This smacks of the $1 “upgrade fee” for porting Wii Virtual Console games to Wii U, but at least it’s optional. /18 100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Unsurprisingly, some existing Switch games will be enhanced for Switch 2, utilizing 1080p resolutions in handheld mode, presumably 4K in docked mode, and HDR capabilities in both. Metroid Prime 4 will also have an optional mouse control scheme, which should make FPS gamers VERY happy. /17 110
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Ope, missed this earlier! A leak about the profile of the AC adapter appears to be confirmed. This probably means you can potentially use third-party adapters. Hopefully it actually comes with the system, unlike so many USB-powered devices these days… /16 100
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Switch 2 Pro Controller revealed! No price announced, but the mappable GL/GR buttons on the underside, and the audio jack (and maybe the white plastic on the shoulder buttons? 😂) indicate it’ll may be more than $70. Buttons can only be mapped to other existing buttons. How? That’s for later. /15 200
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Switch 2 will require MicroSD Express cards, but since the console comes with 256 GB of internal storage you may not need to get one — at least for a while. (1 TB cards are PRICEY.) This means SD cards can’t be used in a system transfers, which requires a Nintendo Account. Need more details! /14 110
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Okay, Switch 2 carts are real! @seanorange.bsky.social thought Switch might be going digital-only for Switch 2, and the slot was just for backwards compatibility. These remind us of the backing colors for Hanafuda cards, though, and it’s probably not a coincidence. /11 220
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025Come on, it’s no coincidence they did these animations with the proliferation of the Switch 2 Mouse patent images online. But confirmation mouse functionality works on both, and showcased with a new game that uses both. /9 120
Famicom Dojo @famicomdojo.bsky.social · 02/04/2025GameShare is AWESOME. Older Nintendo handhelds had some versions of this, and it’s great to see on Switch. It was showcased with Switch 2, but seems like it will be available on OG Switch as well? Gonna have to check on compatibility with NSO multiplayer games. /8 120
