Many thanks to the little baby opossums earlier in the year for being best buds. I've got a local Halloween show on Saturday and I'm trying to finish up a couple more paintings :) This is one of the handful of Witch Familiars I've made so far.

I used to use Arches watercolor paper (this was the last bit of some I had). See the circled part? That's at least 10 layers of blue. But Laura, there's white? Yes. That's why I stopped using something I did from 1998-2020. In 2021 they changed the sizing and the paper became expensive trash.

Two witch familiars done! The owl's name is Bruno, an eastern screech owl from World Bird Sanctuary just outside of St. Louis :) The rabbit is practicing telekinesis and is attempting to lift up the alien finger puppet. These are going with me to District Frights in O'Fallon IL on Oct 3rd!

Artist Pro Tip, vendor edition: DO NOT be a miserable fuck if you're not selling and the artists around you are. You are radiating that misery, making your situation even worse, plus the the other artists start to actively try to NOT talk to you any time there's a lull. Swallow the annoyance.

Large white hibiscus flower native to the midwest called Rose Mallow. Has a bright blood red center and creamy white, giant petals. Nice big leaves too.
