I think they adapted that aspect into the pokewalker. It' not the same, but it's closer than just having them follow you. I personally really like when they have the ride function like in Let's go. Emerald Rogue, the fan made roguelite has it and it's actually really really useful and cute.

I used to play a lot of fortnite with friends and yeah, I liked running around as Doom Guy wearing stupid air jordans with Rip and Tear as my menu music, but does that make the game better? Nah, it's there just to be stupid, which is fine, but at some point it became way too much.

That is because most widescreen patches have lots of fixes to make everything look like it should, without out of border glitches or the HUD being stuck in the middle, etc. Even that Mario World patch has so much going into it to make sure the gameplay stays cohesive with the extra screen space.

Honestly, it's very rare to see a game that gets completely botched by widescreen hacks (aside from menus, those can get real ugly). Sure, the framing and yadda yadda, but if you're not directly comparing it to the game in 4:3, you'll never notice that much of a difference.

I mean, they just spent years making a "flat" version of the game and it was still not enough. I understand it's not the same as doing both at the same time, but still, the industry did not accomodate their original vision, the devs are definitely not at fault here for not making 2 games instead lol
