it used to be that my job as a software dev was basically solving puzzles. try a piece, scratch your head, think where it could go, move around ones that were wrong. eventually, you'd have something in your hands. but it's the feeling of accomplishment that did it for me, not the "something" itself.

i met a person on my last video game expo that told me they've been working as a freelancer for Epic for a while now. they explained how before, briefings would come as scattered sketches and files. all different from one another. now, it's the same AI generated drafts, all basically look the same

i was doing some research to make a mini build using my 3900x and 64gb of ddr4 ram i have laying around after upgrading - motherboard from 10 years ago: $300 - 600w generic psu: $200 - basic low profile cooler: $50 - gpu from 10 years ago: $350 but i guess i can ask cloud to do it for me so yaaay!

i have the weirdest relationship with art. i hold media in such high regard when i'm not consuming it, to a degree it feels ethereal, but in a bad way. it's like i keep an ideal version of the media i love and compare all i do to that, which makes me think all i make sucks and will never compare.

finished this yesterday and boy oh boy what a massive disappointment. i never finished this as a teenager, but my recollection was of artistically incredible, grimy, horrific, character and level design that was bold and new. that is still all true, except the devs clearly ran out of time and money
