Though it finished ahead of Québec solidaire in overall votes, that vote was too spread out to win a single riding. Its best showing was in Jonquière (Yannick Gagnon), with 33.34%.

Conservatives did decent in the regions but were strongest in the Quebec City suburbs and were not much of a factor in Montreal (their appeal to anglos appeared not to do much).

25 years ago today was the last time The Gazette produced an extra edition, a 16-page tabloid (six of which were just photos) rushed to press late in the morning with whatever info was known at that time. Changes in the way we consume breaking news means it will almost certainly never happen again.

I can't imagine being so triggered by a former politician — even one I don't like — being in a new relationship. Like, if Stephen Harper or George W. Bush or Boris Johnson or Viktor Orban started dating a celebrity, I wouldn't write an op-ed to express my disgust. I'd just ... not care.

Facebook post by Wayne Long reads "Sponsored · Paid for by Wayne Long" featuring a photo of him and Mark Carney in an office with the following text:

I’m back in Ottawa this week for some meetings — focused on the work ahead to help build our next federal budget, building on the bold reforms we’ve made to improve CRA service, and seizing the full potential of New Brunswick’s energy advantage.
Looking forward to being back in the riding next week!

Here's the chapter on rights of the anglophone minority, in its entirety:

CBC has applied to the #CRTC to convert Radio-Canada's ICI Première station CBKF-2 in Saskatoon from AM (860) to FM (91.7) with a 44,225W transmitter. It also proposes power increases to CBKF-FM-6 in Prince Albert (to 20kW) and CBKF-FM-3 in Zenon Park (to 9kW) to mitigate loss of coverage.
A page from CBC shows a map of Saskatchewan with various circles denoting the contours of six radio transmitters, and how they will change, an oval-shaped circle in red around Saskatoon is replaced by a circle, while two smaller circles north and northeast of there are replaced by larger circles in green.

Random story from Saturday: At the Victoire parade and party, there was a delay between the players' arrival and their presentation on stage. Why? Well, they'd been drinking quite a bit on the bus and a bunch of them really had to pee, and there were only two potties available backstage.
Seen through scaffolding, a bunch of women crowd around behind a staircase next to some portable toilets.
